Katharine McPhee’s Paparazzi Protection

May 30, 2009 by Jeanne

I saw this video a couple days ago and I seriously cracked up.  American Idol 81025A1season 5 runner-up, Katharine McPhee, ran into some paparazzi trouble recently and was unexpectedly saved by a homeless woman named Quween.  The video of this rescue is, in itself, pretty amusing.

As if that wasn’t funny enough, the two paired up to create a “Funny or Die” video advertising Quween’s celebrity protection services and, at first, I was mildly amused but I quickly found myself laughing out loud.

I really hope that Quween gets some money out of all this so that she can get off the streets (if that’s what she wants, of course).  She seems like a smart enough, tough woman and, who knows?   Maybe she’ll get a movie deal and need protection from paparazzi herself!

The video contains some language that might not be suitable for all so, if you are easily offended, you might want to skip it.

Update – my new template isn’t ready for this video’s code just yet but you can check it out here: http://www.funnyordie.com/videos/035e74b018/katharine-mcphee-in-paparazzi-protection#player

Diana DeGarmo’s Stalker Jailed

May 30, 2009 by Jeanne

I am happy to report that Diana DeGarmo’s stalker has be sentenced to two years and two months in prison diana degarmo after being convicted for the second time in three years.  She will, however, be eligible for parole in a year.

According to Radar Online, the 23-year-old cyber-stalker, Tanya Maree Quattrocchi, “pleaded guilty to accusations she hacked into the MySpace account of DeGarmo and intercepted the e-mails of her roommate and mother.”

She has made Diana’s life really difficult and I honestly think that the woman is not only dangerous but she’s also in dire need of some mental help (and I hope she gets it!).

Can you imagine having a stalker?  It’s got to be hard when you’re a celebrity because you’ve got to find a way to feel comfortable with a crowd without being overwhelmed by it but when you know that there is someone out there who is truly obsessed with you (and willing to go to jail for it) and possibly intends to harm you in some way, how do you ever leave the house?  I would be a basket case!

Adam Lambert and Kris Allen on Today Show

May 29, 2009 by Jeanne

American Idol winner, Kris Allen, and this year’s runner-up, Adam Lambert, appeared on the Today show with Idol’s musical director, Rickey Minor.  It was a great interview because I really enjoy the camaraderie  kris_allen_adam_lambert_today_show between the two artists and I think that their solidarity has done a lot to show how silly it is to get all wrapped up in the “conspiracy theories” that are plaguing this season’s finale.

Kris was asked about how his wife of eight months, Katy, was taking all of the attention he’s now getting and brought up the comment judge, Simon Cowell, made about keeping his marriage a secret (so that he didn’t lose female fans).  Kris said that Katy is supportive and that “she’s not stupid.”  He was also asked about the moment when he was announced as the winner and said “Adam deserved it.”  He reiterated that they both deserved to win and then they laughed about their “bromance” since they have such a close relationship.

Hosts, Hoda Kotb and Kathie Lee Gifford, asked them about the things that have changed in their lives since being on the show and Adam immediately said that

Watch the interview here:

Kris took to the stage for Today’s Summer Concert Series where he performed his rendition of Kanye West’s “Heartless” as well as his winning single “No Boundaries.”  I’m really impressed by how well he is performing and how comfortable he seems in spite of being so much more reserved and shy when he first started the competition.

Adam also performed and I was glad that he picked “Mad World” (again).  I really loved that performance and I feel like he is really able to connect with his audience with this song.

Idol Stalker Gets a Fresh New Look!

May 29, 2009 by Jeanne

Hello all!  If you’re a regular reader, you’ve probably noticed that the site looks a lot different.  Idol Stalker got a facelift by adding a new header and template so I hope you like it!

The transition has caused a few hiccups and I might be a little behind on some news so bear with me as I update the site over the next few days.

Did AT&T Give Kris Allen Extra Votes?

May 27, 2009 by Jeanne

If you’ve been watching American Idol, you probably know that AT&T is one of the show’s biggest sponsors.  Now that season eight is behind us, The New York Times is claiming that the telephone company might have helped secure a victory for Kris Allen.  The allegedly “provided phones for free text- american idol 8 top 2messaging services at two Allen parties in Arkansas on the night of the finals” and that “AT&T reps showed party-goers how to "power text" — cast 10 votes at the touch of a button — which violates show rules.”

Wow.  That’s a pretty serious allegation considering that the article goes on to say that those power texts "have an exponentially greater effect on voting than do single text messages or calls to the shows toll-free phone lines."

So far, no one has come forward about seeing anything like this at any of the Adam Lambert parties.  Of course, Adam’s fans are now saying that the competition is rigged.  I can’t remember a year, though, when these types of rumors didn’t surface after the finale.

Fox hasn’t addressed the controversy but AT&T said: "In Arkansas, we were invited to attend the local watch parties organized by the community. A few local employees brought a small number of demo phones with them and provided texting tutorials to those who were interested."

Interesting… That sounds very close to admission of guilt to me.  What do you think?

UPDATE:  Fox has released a statement which can be seen here: http://hollywoodinsider.ew.com/2009/05/american-idol-a.html

Kris Allen Visits Live With Regis and Kelly

May 27, 2009 by Jeanne

Kris Allen, the newest American Idol winner, was on Live With Regis and Kelly yesterday morning.  He was so charming, humble and adorable and I just find it so hard to not be happy for him.  He talked a bit about how talented the Top 13 was this year, how he talk himself to play the guitar one summer and how he used to enjoy watching the Idol auditions because they were hilarious.

Like last year’s winner, David Cook, Kris auditioned for the show because he had a brother who wanted to get on the show (in fact, his brother had auditioned and didn’t make it) and ended up winning.

It was also interesting when he explained that he has only been married eight months and, after auditioning for the show, he and his wife went on their honeymoon to Jamaica and, after landing, he literally got on a plan to leave for Hollywood Week.  Can you imagine!?  I had to laugh, though, because the ladies in the audience were suspiciously silent as he talked about being married.  Jealous much?

Kris also performed his new single “No Boundaries” and it does seem like he’s getting more and more comfortable with it (the audio was a little weird, though).  It’s not the best song and I’m glad he’s finding a way to embrace it but I can’t wait to see what he comes up with himself.  After the performance, Regis asked Kris if Simon Cowell congratulated him after he won.  Kris revealed that he hasn’t talked to Simon at all.  YOWZA!

Adam Lambert on CBS Early Show

May 27, 2009 by Jeanne

American Idol season 8 runner-up, Adam Lambert, performed “Mad World” for the outdoor crowd on The CBS Early Show.  This video that I found isn’t the best quality but I find it amazing that he not only sounds incredible but he’s able to block out the windiness and the sounds of traffic around him in downtown New York City.  His voice is so absolutely beautiful performing this song.  I got goosebumps listening to it.  I hope you enjoy it too!

Kris Allen Talks About Album and Music

May 26, 2009 by Jeanne

If you watched this past season of American Idol, then you’ll know how quiet the new winner, Kris Allen is.  He is not only quiet, actually, he seems very humble and some have even accused him of being unemotional (maybe during judging or results but surely people feel the emotions when he performs, right?  I do!).

kris allen no boundariesKris recently addressed these comments and provided a little insight into what makes him tick: "I’ve been writing for probably six years or so," Kris said on a press conference call. "I love writing music. It’s the way that I express how I feel because I’m not a man of many words. I’m not very expressive or emotional or whatever, but it comes out in my music. And that’s kind of who I am. I don’t know how great I am at it, but I think I’m getting better."

When talking about his album, he said: "I felt like I did exactly what I wanted to do on the show that I would want to do on a record. I mean, maybe stray a little bit on some of the stuff. When I went on the show and I did ‘Ain’t No Sunshine,’ I felt that was the kind of stuff that I wanted to do, stuff that kind of moves people and has that feeling."

That’s good news because that is what made me like him in the first place.  I think that if he made an album in the style he adopted on Idol, he will probably do very, very well.

Would he work with judge, Kara DioGuardi, again on a song (since she co-wrote that awful “No Boundaries” single – shudder)?  "Maybe so. If it’s in the cards and it works out. It was really fun working with her on the single. She was a blast, and I really respect what she does."  I think that, normally, she is a great songwriter but I really did not like that song.

After all is said and done, there is just one thing that Kris desires – respect.  He said: "The only thing that I really want to do is just be respected in the music industry. And whether that means selling albums or winning Grammys or people just liking your music, that’s what I really want to do."

I hope he gets it!

David Cook on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon

May 26, 2009 by Jeanne

American Idol winner, David Cook, was on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon last night and I think he looked and sounded great.  He performed “Come Back To Me” from his debut album, David Cook, and the more I hear this song, the more I like it.  It’s kind of haunting, isn’t it?  He did seem a little bit tired to me (but still great).  Did you notice that?  Watch the performance:

Jimmy also spoke quickly to David after the performance.  Here’s the brief interview:

Katharine McPhee at National Memorial Day Concert

May 25, 2009 by Jeanne

American Idol season 5 runner-up, Katharine McPhee, performed “Somewhere” (which you might recognize best from the West Side Story soundtrack) at the 20th Annual National Memorial Day Concert on the steps of The Capitol in Washington DC.

Celebrities take part in the 20th Annual National Memorial Day Concert in Washington DC

It was very emotional as images of a soldier were displayed on a screen behind her and then (I presume) the camera panned to him, as he is today, in the crowd with loved ones.
