American Idol 7 Top 10 – Syesha Mercado

Syesha Mercado American Idol 7 Top 10

Syesha Mercado was also born in 1987 and she is singing “If I Were Your Woman.”  It was really good, in my opinion.  Randy said it is the best he’s ever heard Syesha sing (not sure I agree with that, however), Paula said that this is the moment when Syesha became a real competitor and Simon said it wasn’t as good at the end as Randy said and that there is a limit on Syesha’s vocal and that the song stretched it.

Didn’t love it but didn’t hate it either. She’s a really beautiful girl though.

Syesha sang on key, but she is just very generic. It’s all been done before. And I’m really bothered by the fact that she sang a song that was originally recorded in 1971 by Gladys Knight & The Pips. Sheesh, they should not allow the Idols to use “cover” versions or rerecordings to count as their birth year. It should be when the song was first recorded.
