American Idol 7 Top 12 – David Archuleta

March 11, 2008 by Jeanne

David Archuleta Top 12 American Idol

He sang “We Can Work it Out” and my heart just broke when I saw how his nerves affected him tonight.  Anyone who cries about all of his previous “experience” needed to see this performance.  He’s still an amateur, he is still 16 years old and he is still learning how to perform.  Here’s your proof that he deserves to be here.  Randy said it didn’t work for him, Paula Abdul said that everyone loves David and Simon said it was a mess.

I think he did a good job,his nerves got to him but he still is the best male singer and I think he should be in the last two standing.I love David,he’s great.

I feel so bad for him that it made me want to vote for him and I have never voted for him before..go figure.

  3. Garry says:

Personally, I do not like him.. I don’t think he’s ready to handle the big show.. he does not act like he’s ready for this.. he’s always nervous, and he just don’t seem to have that star quality.. yes he does have the best vocals but still.. that is all he has.

His vocals are good, but his performance sucks.. and I think he will end up winning because he’s the “favorite” and this isn’t going to be based on vocals like it was last year…

My favorite is David Cook.. I think he has so much more to offer then Archuleta

Agreeing with Gary.. David has been doing this for years and if he can’t handle this he’s not ready.. AT ALL. ( although I think he comes off rather fake in a plastic child star sort of way.. the awww-shucks stuff doesn’t work on me.. he’s no amature.)

I can’t give this Kid any slack for being 17, Diana was 17 too and never choked like that, Jordan was a kid and was far better suited for it,any other contestant would have been crucified and booted .. and it would be deserved. if this was Carmen? back in season 2? yikes. so why is this kid immune to to criticism and gets treated with “kid gloves”

he would be a senoir in high school and he’s balling his eyes out at everything?

My 13 year old is more mature than this kid. not to mention his technique needs some serious work,. breathing is bad and he sings muffled.

He’s in no hurry, time and maturity would have bennifited this guy. So far the performances he’s done well on are the one’s he’s used in his star search days and had been singing for years.. he steps away from his programmed songs and he’s a mess. too bad he’s being pushed on everyone as the pimped one.. he’ll sail through this whether or not he’s good enough.

i dont agree with GARY..i think he really deserves to be in the top 11..david cook is good too..but remember AMERICAN IDOL is not only a talent competition but also a popularity competition..many people like him..and im one of them..i think you just dont see him on the positive side….

  6. A.G. says:

klaissa, you’re 12 right? Come on now, be a bit more responsible here. You’re being duped by an industry that doesn’t care who they sell to you as long as you buy. David is naive, under talented and should have been gone weeks ago. Idol should be about raw talent. Those who are singing and playing instruments (well mind you) deserve to win over a lip licking cute face. You need to look past the “oh I’d go to prom with him” that they are shoving down your throat and make a decision based on talent. If this was a popularity contest then all one would have to do is bake cookies for the crowd.
