American Idol 7 Top 12 Girls – Live Blogging

February 20, 2008 by Jeanne

I will be on at 8pm MST instead of 6pm tonight.  Feel free to leave comments here before then :)

Kristy Lee Cook sang “Rescue Me” and her eye movements and stance drove me crazy.  I know she wasn’t feeling well but I found it a bit odd.  I like her, though.  I think she’s cute but the song choice was weird too.  I just wanted it to be over.  Randy said it wasn’t her best performance, Paula said it was okay because she is sick and was the first to perform.  Simon said that the song didn’t suit her and that the performance was robotic (uh yeah!).

Joanne Borgella sang “I Say A Little Prayer” and her movements were just a bit stiff and weird to me.  Her voice annoyed me tonight, sorry.  Randy said it was a little weird (he must be reading my thoughts!) because it was shaky, unsure and better at the end.  Paula said that she’s got to pull it together and shine through.  Simon said he didn’t like it at all and that it was a Cabaret performance.

Alaina Whitaker sang “I Love You More Today Than Yesterday” and wow, did she ever look like Carrie Underwood to me at times!  I thought this was the first decent performance of the night.  All of the judges liked it.  Randy said she was another example of how the younger contestants are doing better this year.  Paula said it was the best ending she’s ever heard for that song.  Simon didn’t like the song choice but loved the performance since she didn’t show signs of nervousness and that she would sail through to the next round (should never say that!).

Amanda Overmyer sang “Baby Please Don’t Go” and I was not particularly thrilled with it and I’m a big fan of hers.  Wah.  There was so little singing involved but Randy said he liked it, Paula said she likes everything Amanda does and Simon said he thinks she’s “authentic” even though it wasn’t her best performance.

More after the jump!

Amy Davis sang “Where the Boys Are” and, well, I thought it was really bad.  I’m not saying I don’t like Amy but I did not love this at all.  She slid in and out of every note and, thankfully, Randy saw it too since he said she had “a lot of pitch problems.”  Paula told her that the camera loves her.  Simon said she looked great but didn’t sound great.

Brooke White sang “Happy Together” and it was decent.  Really sweet and straightforward.  I didn’t jump up and down over it or anything.  Randy said it started rough but she worked it out, Paula said she loves that Brooke is original but Simon raised concerns that Brooke seems “too nice.”  Hmm…

Alexandrea Lushington sang “Spinning Wheel” and I can’t hear this song without thinking of Bo Bice.  Anyone else think so too?  Anyway, I thought she was the first to take an actual risk tonight but it was a little 1990s to me.  Still liked it, though.  Randy said he loved it and, again, said that youth was shining through this year, Paula said Alexandrea was wearing a “dope outfit” (sheesh!) and loved her interpretation of the song.  Simon said he didn’t get it.

Kady Malloy sang “A Groovy Kind of Love” and I didn’t really like it too much.  There’s nothing else I can really say about that.  Anyway, Randy said it was “restrained and controlled” but that she seemed to “get lost.”  Paula said Kady looked pretty.  Simon said her performance was like “Night of the Living Dead” and that she needed to lighten up.

Asia’h Epperson sang “Piece of My Heart” and it was okay.  I think she’s a good singer for sure but she sometimes lacks in terms of enunciation but it’s something that she can easily work on.  Randy said she was impressed.  Paula said she had some really good moments and Simon said she was his favorite of the night and that she really let go.

Ramiele Malubay sang “You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me” and she did a good job.  I just really hate that song so it’s hard for me to judge.  Randy said she was “classy, almost like a pro.”  Paula said she is a “force to be reckoned with” and Simon said that she “outsung every person.”

Syesha Mercado sang “Tobacco Road” and I thought it was really good.  She’s got a nice, big voice and it surprises me every time.  Randy said that it wasn’t her best but Simon said she is “probably one of the most talented girls.”

Carly Smithson made a point of talking about her record deal.  Interesting.  She sang “Shadow of Your Smile” and it was really good.  Sorry y’all.  She is sick too.  Randy said it was the best vocal of the Top 24.  Paula said that every choice she makes involves beautiful inflections.  Simon said that he didn’t get it and there’s so much hype about Carly and was expecting more.  I wonder if he was extra hard on her because of all the buzz.  Hmmm….

South Florida rocked the house tonight! I have to say Remeile really impressed me. And Syesha tore it up and Alexandrea surprised me too. Good show. They did a little better than the guys.

Go South Florida! Rameile and Syesha brought it! I thought Alexandrea was cute too. I have to agree they did a little better than the guys. Good show! I think Brooke is out of her league unless she was one of the sick ones.

WOW! The ” LITTLE GIRL”, Ramiele Malubay is one of the best, I reckon. She sings so beautifully from her heart into her facial expression & finally into the audience. Her voice can melt your heart! She is the most fitted AI candidate that can do best music recording, especially in ballads or in pops or, maybe in religious music (in which this world badly needs). Yes, truly, Ramiele can do it all & give us all, her big, sweet & something enchanted voice. There is something “very special” in her multi-talents.

Pls. give all your votes to Ramiele Malubay! Let her win. From all of us here in UK. Give the best of you, Ramiele. We love you!

Honourable Judges, pls give your heart’s desire to this little, sweet, multi -talented, humble, versatile & special girl – to win as American Idol & the world’s Idol too. Definitely, you won’t regret! She deserve to win! Lovely people in USA, pls cast your VOTE on Ramiele Malubay!
