American Idol 7 Top 5 - Syesha Mercado
Syesha Mercado sang “Hello Again” and, for the most part, it was good but I felt like she had a few pitch issues and I got a little bored. She looked really beautiful and, overall, I think she deserves to be here another week.

Syesha chose “Thank the Lord for the Night Time” and after last week with Carly Smithson’s elimination after singing “Jesus Christ Superstar” I would avoid any song that had even the slightest religious reference. Not saying that caused Carly to be sent home but on this show, you have to be so careful. All that aside, I loved her attitude during this performance but I don’t think it allowed her to really shine vocally. Again, it’s hard when you have to pick songs that were written by a specific artist.

Syesha looked great last night. I think she did well and should definitely be here another week but lets see b/c VFTW is supporting Brooke. I hope my 30 votes counts! Even if she does get voted off unfairly, she will still have a great career from this and will do better than Brooke in the real world - ha ha!

There’s been a lot of rock songs with the word Lord in it that became big hits so that comment was not well thought out. Also, its not like people who believe in the Lord make up a small segment of America. Last time I checked it’s overwhelmingly the largest. All these performers have their niche audience might as well choose an enormous one. And Neil Diamond is Jewish so that portion of the population won’t be turned off. Most of my Jewish friends own Christmas albums, and always a Neil Diamond Christmas album because they grew up with it. The Muslims will vote for her, well, come one, they are not going to vote for some white guy. The Mormons will vote for Brooke. That only leaves the gays who vote for Jason, the little girls who vote for David A., and the rockers who vote for Davi…wait, they don’t watch this show. And straight guys vote for either Brooke or Syesha because they look smokin’ hot regardless of how they sing. Syesha look darned pretty tonight so there you go, but so did Brooke. The straight guys vote because no straight guy is going to watch this show if its just a bunch of femdudes on it. Think these things out and it will be much clearer.
