American Idol 7 top 7 - Jason Castro

Jason Castro is about getting songs to people’s hearts according to Mariah and she even gave him some of his ideas. He chose to sing “I Don’t Wanna Cry” and I was so surprised! I cannot believe how well that worked! Randy didn’t really love it (what is wrong with him tonight!?) and said it felt like a weird beach luau. Paula said she would love to be at that luau listening all night long. Simon agreed with Paula and said it wasn’t the best vocal but it was cool.

It didn’t suck.
I liked it a lot. I was pleasantly surprised by Jason. I knew it would have plenty of emotion, since you can expect that from him. But, i wasn’t sure how it would sound. to me, it sounded great. The performance had all the important elements to it.
I think Jason’s performance of “I Don’t Wanna Cry,” was original and stirring emotionally. This was always my fav Mariah Carey song because of the raw emotion that seeps through each and every lyric… I think Jason has that pure raw emotionality that seeps through and makes ya tingle…he should definately stand up when singing such emotional numbers. When you stand as opposed to sitting, the vibration of the voice comes through in living color (so to speak!) If he stands and projects that very passionate voice forcefully, his originality will single him out and his magnetism will come pouring out effusively!
FOR ME JASON IS THE BEST! I REALLY LOVE HIM
Jason has a horrible singing voice. If this wasn’t a popularity contest and an actual singing contest. Jason would have been kicked off long ago!
Jason sings from his heart: stirring our vulnerabilities with felt pain or joy. He had told us early on ” I’m real.” Keep real, Jason. But leave room for lessons to be learned as time and experience work wonders on your personal style. I pray that you find the perfect milieu and genius of mentors to mold you into God’s beautiful instrument. Please, for the sake of all whose lives you’ve touched. We’ve been missing you. And oh, we are not few.
