American Idol 8 Top 10 – Megan Joy “For Once in My Life”

Megan Joy sang the Stevie Wonder classic “For Once in My Life” and mentor, Smokey Robinson, said that he believed she was one of the most original contestants American Idol has ever had on the show. I think nerves got the best of her because her notes were all over the place. I did not like the outfit or hair because when you combine it to the music, it looked like something from an episode of the Love Boat.
Randy liked the outfit but the song was a train wreck for him. He said it was too fast for her vocal style. Kara agreed with Randy and suggested that Megan should have sung something like “My Guy.” Paula said that Megan looked stunning but she agreed that it was not the right song for her. Simon said the good news is that Megan looked good but she should fire whomever is advising her.

i still love megan so much!!!! i do admit that it wasn’t her best. really wasn’t.
but she’s so beautiful and talented and unique and special!! i really hope she does well. i will definitely vote for her many many times!!
No doubt this was Megan’s worst performance. I don’t know why she went away from the smokey-jazzy voice style we love. I hope she gets another chance and goes back to the style that brought her this far. I’ve watched every season and do think she is one of the most unique singers ever on the show. I really want more Megan Joy on this show.
I don’t know why but when I first saw her last night, Willy Wonka and Umpa Lump came to mind…..
at this point Megan Corkrey keeps advancing either because she’s extremely cute, or because votefortheworst.com is making it happen
“For once in my life” performance by Megan was the best I have heard from an artist in years. It was original, casual and very easy on the ears. I am not a conformist, but hey, Megan rocks!
