American Idol 8 Top 10 – Scott MacIntyre “You Can’t Hurry Love”

March 25, 2009 by Jeanne

Scott MacIntyre chose to sing “You Can’t Hurry Love” which was originally recorded by the Supremes but remade by Phil Collins (and the Dixie Chicks for the Runaway Bride soundtrack – right?).  I thought the timing and phrasing was weird.  I thought there were pitch issues and I really did not love this performance.

Paula said that when Scott is feeling a song, the audience feels it too.  Simon said that when he heard Scott sing “how much more can I take”… ha ha.  He said it was the wrong song and a bad performance.  Finally, someone is telling Scott the truth.  Randy agreed and said it was a hotel kind of performance.  They both said Scott was better than that.  Kara said that the song was a good choice but the execution was not perfect.

Funny moment – Simon was irritating Paula so she reached under her desk, grabbed crayons and a coloring book, gave them to him and said “here you go, six year old.”  Ha ha!!!
