American Idol 8 Top 3 Results Show
May 13, 2009 by Jeanne
Jonah Hill, Ben Stiller, Hank Azaria and Bill Hader opened the show with a little skit and it was pretty funny. I cracked up at Jonah’s impression of Randy Jackson.
More than 88 million votes were cast to determine the Top 2 and I can’t believe we are at this point of the season already! Apparently, the person being sent home tonight lost by one million votes. That’s crazy!
Alicia Keys came out to add to what Carrie Underwood said about Idol Gives Back. She introduced a young man who wants to make an album to help other African children so that they can fight HIV. She asks us all to text the word “ALIVE” to 90999 and donate $5 to the cause. The performance was so cute and sweet! I hope it raises a lot of money!
Next, they showed more footage of the homecoming/hometown visits with Danny Gokey going first. It was hilarious (and touching) to see how much love and support Danny got and it was also great to see Jamar Rogers again. Kris Allen was next and it was amazing to hear him explain that there was about 20,000 people at his rally when the town only has like 40-50,000 in total.
Jordin Sparks then performed her new single “Battlefield” and, for all that talk about her being comfortable with her body the way it was, she looked a LOT slimmer. Did you notice? What did you think of the song? I thought it was way better than “Tattoo” because she actually got to put her talent to work but I found it sounded a little rough towards the end.
Adam Lambert was brought on to the stage so that they could take a look at the footage from his hometown visit. They had a chuckle about the female fan who took her shirt off and tried to run to Adam. His fans were definitely the craziest of the three hometowns.
Katy Perry performed her song “Waking Up in Vegas” and the first thing I noticed what that she had Adam Lambert’s name embroidered on her cape. WOW! I really am not a big fan of this song so it was really just okay to me.
Sadly, one of the very talented guys from the Top 3 had to be eliminated tonight and it was Danny Gokey. So sad. He’s been such a favorite since the beginning.

finally danny is out. i think easy win for adam next week
Yipee, KRIS and ADAM!
Rooting for Kris
Although whoever wins is okay for me. Woohoo!
ADAM ADAM!!!!! no other words needed.
This is a dream come true!!!
Thank you so much America!!!
We have a Kris vs Adam finaleee!!!
Don’t understimate Kris!! He kicked out Danny of the finale!!! And i’m sure Danny’s votes will go to him, so Adam is in big risk now.
Personally I hope Adam will win cos he really deserved it, but never under estimate Kris…
Anyway, Adam rocks
Wonderful! My dream finale too;p
Kris for the win! he is the darkhorse of the competition… pretty much the first contestant to make the final 2 who didn’t get any footage shown before the semis; vote lots guys, can’t here since im canadian
EVEN Though I want Kris to win, I actually kinda hope he don’t, his album will be much better without the Idol title, at least then he can have his own creativity and do what he wants for the most part, Idol winners very rarely write or do anything they want on there first album so, lets hope Adam wins, he seems like hes more of a preformer than an artist anyway.
wow, it was a shocker. I think it’s because of Kris Allen Heartless performance last night.
I disagree that Jordin Sparks looked a lot slimmer. Maybe I haven’t seen a picture of what you are comparing her to. When they panned the camera all around, she definitely still has a big booty, but I think she looks great and it’s comforting to hear she is secure in her body. Kelly Clarkson is also under a lot of fire lately for this and I’m also glad to hear she is also secure in her body.
I’m excited for the finale – both guys deserve it.
jordin was great!
i hate katy perry. she’s nothing special and the adam thing was weird & rude to the other contestants.
yay! kris and adam finale!
they are such opposites
im rooting for kris but i do agree with garry’s opinion above.
Yeah Kris in the finale! That’s my boy!
As Simon would say, don’t mean to be rude, but . . . Katy Perry was horrible. Most of the celebrity entertainers this year have been really bad. Gwen Stefani was awful. Personally I would prefer to see on former Idols perform next week.
