American Idol 8 Top 7 Kris Allen “She Works Hard for the Money”

Kris Allen surprised me by choosing “She Works Hard for the Money” but his options were really limited considering it was Disco Week. I loved the arrangement he came up with. I loved how the bass came in a little later. It was really awesome. He’s really proving himself week after week.
Kara told him that he took a real risk with that arrangement and that it paid off big time. Paula said that it had a classy Santana feel to it and then gave him a weird compliment that I could never repeat. Simon said it was original, well thought out and not karaoke and that it was a fantastic performance. Randy said that Kris knows who he is and has proven that he is ready for the big time.

Can someone tell me this? Since when is a 1983 song disco? She works hard for the money was an 80’s pop song, it was not disco – it shouldn’t have been a choice for this week, just because it’s Donna Summers doesn’t mean it’s disco – she also sang other types of music –
That said, yes the arrangement was different. I didn’t even recognize it and had to keep reminding myself what song it was. Kris has talent, but he’s not my favorite.
Love this kid. One of the cutest guys ever on Idol.
