American Idol Finalist Jessica Sierra Goes to Jail!!!
American Idol finalist, Jessica Sierra, was jailed after the had a drunken confrontation with the police last night/this morning! No, this has nothing to do with the battery and cocaine possession charges for which she entered a plea of "no contest" a couple weeks ago.
What was she charged with this time?
- - Disorderly intoxication
- - Resisting arrest
- - Felony battery
- - Possession of cocaine
- - And a partridge in a pear tree…
Jessica was supposed to be completing a drug-rehabilitation program to be televised nationally.
"As the defendant was taken into custody, she attempted to push away and flee the scene," the arresting officers wrote.
On Nov. 19, Circuit Judge Gregory Holder sentenced Sierra to 12 months probation and random drug screening. She was accused of hitting a man on the head with a glass at a Tampa nightspot in April. Officers then found a small amount of cocaine while searching her afterward at the county jail.
A top-10 contestant on the show in 2005, Sierra entered a California rehab facility in July that was to be documented on VH1’s reality show "Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew," sometime early next year.
Well, I hope Jessica is able to get control over her life. She is a talented girl and it would be a shame if she threw her life away on drugs, alcohol and jail.

I can’t tell you how sad this makes me. I had an alcoholic/drug addict in the family, butr thankfully the support and love of family and friends got them turned around before they were 40 and they reclaimed their life ever since.
I can’t help but feel that there is a lack of support in her life. I hope someone or something comes into her life that allows her to turn it around. She always seemed like such a sweet girl.

She didn’t have cocaine on her; that’s not a new charge. What happened is that because she was on parole for the earlier two charges (including possession) and broke parole with this relatively minor midemeanor arrest for drunken behavior, those two felony charges are now relisted on her arrest sheet and she will probably have to face sentencing for them….which is very bad news for her as that could mean several years - yes years, not months - in prison. The serious jail time she is facing will be as a result of the parole violation which means the felony charges now have to be faced again and both of those probably have some serious minimum sentencing guidelines. Best case scenario - the misdemeanor charges get dropped and Jessica - who can have no bond because she broke parole - will not have her parole formally revoked but will still have to spend time in jail awaiting her hearing on those felonies. More likely scenario - her parole will be revoked and she will have to serve a year plus in jail. Jessica is a troubled person, and I’m not sure a longterm jail sentence is going to do anything but make her more so. It also bears noting that both of her legal problems have occurred in her hometown of Florida when she’s out partying with old friends. In the long run, she and society would be better off if she can get back to California and professional treatment sooner than later.

I should have also stated that Jessica didn’t commit felony battery again either; again, that’s from the previous arrest and is reappearing because of the parole violation. So yes, technically she is being charged with it again, but no, it’s not because of new behavior. The two misdemeanors - disorderly intoxification and resisting arrest without violence - are the things that actually happened early this morning. Know what’s really sad? These arrests resemble some of her mother’s early arrests to a T…and her mother had like 50 arrests (seriously) before dying of an overdose the week of AI’s Season 4 auditions. It’s almost like she’s reenacting her mother’s life. Very, very sad.

I didn’t know anything about her mom dying and that she was in trouble with the law too. It’s really sad, I liked her on AI. I hope she gets better though.
