American Idol Finalist Luke Menard is Now Cancer Free!
December 18, 2008 by Jeanne
When Luke Menard was diagnosed with cancer shortly after being eliminated from American Idol this past season, I was really shocked. There was an immediate outpouring of love and support from his fellow finalists with Michael Johns, Jason Yeager and winner, David Cook, paying Luke a visit in the hospital.
The Idol hopeful was diagnosed with lymphoma but has told Access Hollywood that things have taken a turn for the better: “I’m cancer free according to my last test scan that I had. It’s been exciting to get that news.”
Isn’t that fantastic? I’m so happy for him! He also had some kind things to say about the show: “All the producers from ‘American Idol,’ 19 Entertainment… David Cook, who won ‘American Idol,’… he has been extremely helpful, even financially with medical bills. 19 Entertainment has helped out with medical bills, so it’s been way more than I expected.”
I have to admit that they’ve helped more than I expected too. In fact, the thought of them doing something like that for Luke didn’t even cross my mind. Maybe it’s good that he was on the show when he was since those kinds of medical treatments can really cost so much. No matter what, I’m just happy it’s all working out in his favor.

I’m so glad to hear this news! I liked him and thought he was very talented. I love to hear stories of helping other people too.
The new season is going to feature David Osmond-yes, from those Osmonds-and he is just recovering from MS brought on by West Nile virus. Off topic, but interesting.
I am so relieved to hear this news. I personally thought Luke was an awesome singer and instantly fell in love with him. I was so sad he left so soon and then to hear about the cancer! Double ouch!
