American Idol Season 7 Audition – Carly Smithson

Carly Smithson is from Ireland and owns a tattoo parlor with her husband. She auditioned in Las Vegas in season 5 and made it through to the next round but was disqualified because her visa did not come through on time.
She sang "I’m Every Woman." Paula really liked it but Simon said it wasn’t as good as her audition from 2 years ago. She got a "yes" from all three judges!

OMG ! What a voice. A truely outstanding voice. Lets hope all the Irish in the US of A get behind this girl and VOTE VOTE VOTE. Can’t wait to hear more of her. Will be tuning in for Hollywood week to see her perform again. Go Paddy’s, Go Paddy’s, Go Paddy’s !!!! YAAAHHHOOOOOOOO

What a voice? What a RACK!!!
I think she has a great voice- but here are my problems:
1. She’s already had a recording contract and FAILED. Change of name does not mean she gets a second chance on—and here’s my second problem.
2. She is from Ireland. I know this is America, the melting pot, but I really think they should have at least American Citizenship before they are allowed to be on American Idol. Go audition for the European version of this show. This is for Americans to win.
SHAME on you. Bigotted people destroy multi cultural societies. In case you are not aware the only true AMERICANS are the American Indians. You may be aware that there are not alot of them left as Daniel Boone and the likes wiped them out. America is a multi cultural society today just like most of the world so get your white cone hat off and accept other cultures and societies. She is married to an American man who she loves deeply, hence the name change. She had a contract and didn’t FAIL, she had shit management and the world trade centre was blown up and her deal flopped. If the show was only for true American Indians we’d have no Simon, Paula or Randy ! Imagine that love!
Hey anyone knows the song Carly Smithson sang in the Feb 12 episode Hollywood Week. She sang it quite well.
Since you brought it up, being an American Indian myself, I don’t care if you all pack up and leave.

I think before anyone auditions for American Idol they should have USA citizenship. They name speaks for itself AMERICAN IDOL….. Does anyone know does she have her citizenship in the USA???
Everyone is quick to criticize Carly for being Irish. What about the Aussie – Michael? They are both great and add a lot to this competion. They live here in America-the melting pot, so give them a chance at the opportunties they came to our country for. We should just revel in the fact that all the contestants this year are much more talented than last year (anyone remember Sanjaya?)
so what if she is Irish. So are my grandparents. the big thing is that she had a recording contract with MCA. That is the deal breaker that gets me. I hope all the irish people vote for carly too… she is going to need all the votes she can get.. The other contestants from other nationalities are getting support from their nations.. Carly needs help too… Her record deal isn’t a scandal..
What about the ones which appeared on Tv shows like star search, are members of rock bands/pop groups, appeared on Idol other seasons ( just like carly) give me a break…
The woman is a good singer and we should support that
Look around the set (Coca Cola anyone) and you can see the product placements…and the biggest one is Carly Smithson. YOu poor dumb sheep are buying every bit of it..get a grip people! If you like being manipulated vote for her!She is a placement!
I met Carly Henessy in 1999 when she was working on her album Ultimate High and I have to let you guys know that she was the ultimate bitch to everyone she worked with. She was rude and nothing at all like the ‘ sweet little Irish girl’ that you see on the show. I hope that she gets booted off , she’s a nasty piece of work.
“I’m Every Woman” was a great song, too bad people were so cruel to her early on. VFTW is a vile group and has nothing good in their lives IMO. Carly will have a wonderful career and get the success she so deserves…
