American Idol Season 7 Audition - Danny Noriega
Danny Noriega definitely took me by surprise. He auditioned, unsuccessfully, last year and was back to prove himself.
He sang “Proud Mary” and it blew me away. What a shock! He cracked me up. I think he’s totally likeable. I feel, though, if you mix Sanjaya Malakar and Jessica Alba, you get Danny Noriega. LOL. Maybe even a little Miley Cyrus???

Absolutely the worst season ever!! Was big fan til now - for some reason it just went completely cheeseball for me. No talent - they all sound alike - this show has turned into a crappy machine - that spits out cheesy puppets - I can’t stand it anymore. What happened to individuality. This is not American!

Carl Simon doesn’t hate him, he’s given him praise for his vocals before, but it just so happens that he wasn’t fond of this particular performance and i don’t really see why ppl say he has a bad attitude, i’ve seen alot of conceited contestants with bad attitudes on american idol before and danny is not one of them. He has one of those sassy attitudes that make people laugh, he means no harm. I think he’s adorable and i hope he goes all the way.
And for all the ladies wondering if he’s gay or not, i remember reading somewhere that he admitted he was on his myspace page but who knows if that’s true, not that it makes a difference! Go Danny!!!!!!!!!!!!

Danny thinks that he’s being cute when he’s being wise, and the Hannah Montana crowd is falling for it. I just do NOT like this kid’s personality. He’s a flamer, but an obnoxious one. It erks me. He’s like “Here I am world! Look at me I’m the shiznat cuz I’m Gay God!…love me biatches! And the thing is, he doesn’t have the talent to back it up. He’s okay. Average in a crowd of wannabe singers. If he became idol (it will never happen), but if it did… he’d end up losing his contract like Taylor Hicks did. This dude just doesn’t have the stuff for the business today. He’s a weeding singer, school musical kind of guy.

i completely disagree with that comment. First of all, i’m not sure what you mean by the “Hannah Montana crowd is falling for it” If you’re trying to say that only 13 year old girls are the ones routing for danny you’re wrong. I’m 22 years old and i think danny is extremely talented and has a great shot at winning. And as for as the whole obnoxious thing goes, i’m sorry i just don’t see it. All i see is someone with a sassy, fun attitude that likes to have a good time and he DOES have the talent to back it up. Have you not heard his vocal range? he is amazing and he has the performer side to him as well. If you’re not fond of him, that’s fine, but calling him “average” is way off. I think you will be proven very wrong.

Ok Danny has a very bad attitude and he is only an average singer in comparison to many of the other singers. In the young guy group David Archuleta makes Danny look like a joke. David has more talent in his big toe. Both of Danny’s performances have been awful and he should go this week or next week. The ones we should look out for Are the Three Davids on mens side.

i totally agree with Angel. he does not come off as annoying, conceited, or bratty to me at all. he’s just a fun guy who has some PERSONALITY unlike most of the other contestants…i probably wouldn’t watch it is if weren’t for danny.
and he definitely has talent, his last two performances in the top 24 may not have been very good, but his singing ability is amazing based on this audition for example or during hollywood week. and the fact that he’s never had any formal vocal training i find to be astounding cuz he has such nice control over his voice.

lastly, nobody should compare danny to sanjaya because they are two completely different people. i never really liked sanjaya that much and was one of the reasons why i kind of lost interest in the show last season believe it or not. danny for one actually has talent, and his personality is so much more appealing to me.

Thank you tyger, and you’re completely right too. Danny has personality where as alot of other contestants, both past and present don’t (or they’re afraid to show it). Every year there’s always that one special contestant that makes you want to tune in every week and watch and Danny does that for a lot of people. Alot of people may criticize his personality because it’s different and then automatically they slap him with a “bad attitude” label. To me, i see him as someone that would be a blast to hang out with or someone that will make u laugh when you’re having a crappy day and that spicey attitude that he has is what makes him so hysterical. I guess people will either love him or hate him, but one thing’s for sure, he’s definitely not a forgettable contestant, which, combined with his singing/performing ability, will take him very far, even if he isn’t crowned the american idol.

I liked the performance, i do think that danny should choose songs that will show off his vocal ability alittle more instead of going with the “performer” songs mainly, but we all know he has mad vocal skills along with a performer side which is why he will still be around next week, hopefull he will come out and wow us with his beautiful voice like he did at the auditions.

I think he should have done alittle more with his voice to show off his gorgeous vocals, but the performance itself wasn’t horrible to me, i enjoyed it, and i’m sure alot of others did too. There is no doubt in my mind and millions of other American Idol viewers that Danny’s exit tonight was rigged by the producers, Nigel Lythgoe in particular, because there is NO WAY that Danny had the 2nd lowest number of votes. No way.
What point were the producers trying to make by forcing Danny out? I just can’t fathom anything right now, AI is truly rigged/fixed and will never be the same again.
On the bright side, Danny will soon return and express his views on everything in due time. I wish him all the best. He will be successful wherever he goes.

Danny’s exit was some what of a shock to me. i am truly dissapointed. The kid has a great voice, i just wish america got to see a little more of him. its not the end for danny im pretty sure we will see alot of him in the near future. Its the year 2008 people, its time that we that we stop judging people because of there sexual orientation and pay more attention to the person and who they are.This is a singing competition, and with that said i highly doudt that danny who can sing was booted off the show because he couldnt sing. Out of the 6 guys that were choosen 3 three of them didnt deserve to advance to the next round.IM sorry to say it but idol is all politics now, david and carley to be in the finals

i’m disappointed he was eliminated this early and it was a shock to me, I do wish he was given another chance to really show america how great his vocals are… but i’ve also noticed that with American Idol and even Canadian idol, the contestants that don’t win the whole thing end up being even more successful than the ones that actually do win, with the exception of a couple. Take Chris Daughtry for example, Clay Aiken, Jacob Hoggard (Hedley) from Canadian Idol, even Elliot Yamin is doing great and the list goes on. Now that Danny’s got his foot in the door i’m sure we’ll be hearing great things from him and we’ll all be thinking, “so what, he got booted off Idol” It’s definetely just the beginning for him and he’s already got a huge fan base. We love you Danny!!!!!!

LOL and wasn’t it so funny when ryan was giving both danny and chikezie’s critics from their previous performances before voting one of them out, and when he got to Simon’s negative comment danny did that “loser” hand gesture that Simon has been doing throught the season, even at such a serious time he still has to be a joker lol, he’s such a character, american idol definitely isn’t going to be the same without him.

Those rant videos should have nothing to do with his performances on AI.
The reason he was taken off (notice I said “taken” off instead of “voted” off) was because Nigel and the other Producers of AI didn’t want another Sanjaya on their hands.
Face it, Danny brought entertainment to the show! His verbal and physical interactions with Simon, Paula and Randy are going to be legendary - especially the “hand to the head wave”, that was one of the funniest things to happen on AI in 6 seasons. Even Randy and Paula got into it.
The Producers also didn’t want an openly flamboyant gay on the show. Why? Remember that television shows is about demographics. Demographics is about selling Advertising.
Having a flamboyant gay on the show did not go well with conservative middle America. The Producers could not afford to lose that entire demographic.
And remember that Chickezie was the only African American Male to make it into the top 12 men this year. For Demographic reasons again - he had to make it into the final 12.
If you all remember when Ryan had both Danny and Chickezie in center stage and was talking to them, and Ryan finally mentioned Chickezie’s name - did you all see the look on Checkezie’s face?? He was resigned to being the guy being sent home. I noticed it, so I’m sure you all noticed it too.
One other thing - with the news coming out last week about David Hernandez and his past - I thought for sure they would kick him off AI; I think most people did. BUT - if the Producers planned on kicking Danny Noriega off, how would it look to the American Public if they knocked off both Gay men from being in the final 12??
Not too good, right? If they did send both David H. and Danny N. home last week, the Gay Community (and others) would have been screaming discrimination. I think that’s the main reason that they didn’t send David Hernandez packing because of his prior escapades.

I wouldn’t be surprised if that was the case. And your not the first person that thinks that’s what happened. You just never know. Danny certainly was way out there for them. He was unreserved, flamboyant, and not afraid to speak his mind, and with a show as big as American Idol, they don’t want to take a chance of getting any bad publicity, losing viewers or gaining a bad reputation. Especially when they’re doing stuff like “Idol gives back” they do whatever they can to gain good publicity and then someone like danny comes along, who doesn’t exactly follow a book of rules and they panic. I really hope that wasn’t the case, because if it was, than that would mean he was cheated out of a possible AI victory, which makes me very sad, especially taking into consideration that they’re always stressing that contestants should “be themselves” and not put on any acts. All i know is that for whatever the reason, they lost one of the greatest contestants they’ve ever had on the show. American Idol is really starting to make me mad, i don’t even wanna watch anymore, I think i’ll stick to Canadian Idol

don’t even get my started about his videos Manuel..you can obviously tell in the christmas video that he was being sarcastic and not genuine..anybody who thinks that video was made to be serious needs to get over themselves..it’s been validated that he wasn’t being serious through his recent interviews and his family
this isn’t the end of Danny Noriega, he will be more successful soon enough..reading his exit interviews brings me hope and optimism of more Danny x)
and it’s been rumored that there MAY be a Wild Card thing, or a special treat for “Idol Gives Back”..but i sort of doubt that Danny will ever be back on the show, or that the rumors are true…we’ll see soon enough…

I can’t wait to see if they do a wild card, i remember our first ever Canadian idol was voted off at one point then he got back in with the wild card and he ending up winning the whole thing. But i also doubt they’d put danny back on the show, especially if our speculations are true, what a shame.
and Manual, i don’t really know why so many ppl are making such a huge fuss about that video, he looks so young in it (not to mention the fact that he’s presently only 18) I’m sure there’s not one teenager out there that hasn’t had a moment like that, even if they are embarassed of it now, his just happened to be on tape. Cut him some slack, he’s not a bad guy. Maybe if the people hating on his personality were alittle more like him then this world wouldn’t be so critical and judgemental of others, some people just need to lighten up and enjoy life alittle more, u can definitely tell that he does.

It would’ve been worse if he was trying to be something hes not like last year, but he’s very entertaining, and America just needs to be a little more accepting of people cuz its really annoying when people are like “OMG HE IS GAY HE HAS TO GO” So f*cking what if hes different?
