American Idol Season 7 Audition – Julie Dubela

January 31, 2008 by Jeanne

imageJulie Dubela was in the Top 20 of American Juniors in 2003 and seemed a little more impressed by herself than others were.  I’m not trying to be mean, it’s just an observation.  Simon Cowell’s first comment was “you’re very confident” but it didn’t sound completely convincing.

She sang “Me and My Bobby McGee” and Paula Abdul seemed barely able to contain herself and Simon asked if she had ever been called “precocious.”  Julie said she was just acting like herself but did not want to accept her rejection.  She seemed so sure she was just going to get picked and it seemed to really shock her.  Simon said she was overindulged and Paula said that no one had ever said “no” to her.  Then she said that she turned down singing at a Red Socks game to audition and wasted her time.  She said that people shouldn’t audition for or watch American Idol.  Nice…

This girl was an idiot! She sounded better when she was 12…lol.

I was actually surprised they didn’t put her through, I mean come on, they sent the guy who couldn’t speak good english through! They let Antonella Barber through last season…lol…well it’s a good thing though cuz she was not up to par, and now she is hating on the show….poor little miss junior Idol…lol

  2. Someone really needs a reality check or a slap in the face or something. It’s shocking how well she thought she did. I am ecstatic that they didn’t put her through…

Simon always says this is a singing competition. Well if that’s true then she should have made it to Hollywood. OK, you think she’s a spoiled brat & don’t want to put her through, i get that. But don’t sit there & lie like Randy did & say there is a voice in there somewhere. The girl can sing, so don’t lie & say she can’t when all of America is watching & listening & could see that she had an amazing voice. And i also don’t get the acting comment. Arn’t the contestants suppose to rehearse so they come in prepared, know their words & have some decent choreography with their singing so they don’t just look like a stick singing ?

ewwwwwwwwwwwww! The girl can NOT sing at all.

Don’t bother with Jeff, cuz he don’t know what he talking about. Julie butchered Bobby McGee–Yoko Ono could sing the song better than Julie did. She’s pretty though, and being from LA Julie could make a pretty nice pot of money from acting, like Simon, Randy and Paula said: Julie, go into ACTING!!

  5. Jeff says:

cory knight is one of those people that has no ear for music & is too heavily influenced by the judges. Whatever they say he believes hook line & sinker. It was obvious that the judges didn’t like Julie as a person & it had nothing to do with her singing. Maybe it’s because Julie is already famous to the point she is on wikipedia encylopedia. Anyone can go on you tube & see all her videos to know the girl can sing and has mad talent. Everyone saying she can’t sing has hidden agendas because she looks like a bratty Valley Girl type. She doesn’t sing at Fenway & Gillette stadium because she has no voice. Check out her singing on youtube video “my father’s eyes”. Pretty good.

Wow dude, I had to see what you were talking about so I went to youtube and honestly the song you are talking about was ok, not great. It was better than her audition but for some reason I just don’t feel she has the projection she needs for this competition. As I said before, I’m surprised they didn’t let her through but look at it like this: they didn’t pass her to Hollywood and as you said she has a lot of experience so let’s just say she doesn’t need American Idol, I mean according to you her talent is so amazing why is she trying out for AI anyway? She should skip the middle man and go straight to the record companies…right??
    Maybe not :)

  7. Jeff says:

i said she had mad talent. but she’s only 16. I didn’t say she was ready for a cd. But she sure is talented enough that she should have gotten a golden ticket to hollywood.

i don’t agree with the judges all the time. A lot of times simon decides that he doesn’t like over confident people and rejects them. i know he doesn’t like spoiled people. i have seen him put people through because they are poor or have had a hard life. it is supposed to be a singing talent. if all those other things are a factor in one going to hollywood than the show needs to make that clear. i don’t know who is more bratty, overconfident, spoiled etc more than simon. mr. know it all.

I went to school with Julie in New Hampshire, and she is a very good singer, she just picked the wrong song.
However, I think she deserved what she got, shes a bitch, honestly.

  10. Kristen King says:

Yeah, not a fan. She was good, but she wasn’t phenomenal. If she came back in a year or two and tried it again, I can see it working for her. Well, if she hadn’t acted like a petulant 4-year-old when they said no. Unprofessional much? If she didn’t have previous music experience, I don’t think I would be so irritated with her, but I expect more from people who’ve done the Idol thing or something like it in the past. I think the judges made the right choice on this one.

I don’t know why what happened to her….
