American Idol’s Blake Lewis on "The View" – Video

January 15, 2008 by Jeanne

American Idol season 6 runner-up, Blake Lewis, dropped by and chatted with Sherri Shepherd and Elisabeth Hasselbeck on The View this morning and, of course, they brought up the fact that Idol starts tonight.  He has admitted that he will not be tuning in to the finale tonight.

He also talked about his influences and Hasselbeck brought up the dreaded label issues that have been going on lately (she used the word "dropped" – just a warning).

Here’s the video from her interview and performance:

I did not like that song at all. It sure didn’t show he has much of a voice. I enjoyed him on Idol, but after seeing and hearing this song I’m not so sure about how well he’ll do.

I’m sorry to hear that Bev! Break Anotha is not one of my favorites, but the CD actually is excellent. If you go to his myspace or do a search, try and listen to “How Many Words”–his voice sounds great on that, as well as “What’cha Got To Lose” which makes maximum use of his falsetto.

  3. Karen says:

I watched Blake on the View and let’s just say it was not his best performance. He seem to be tired and was all over the place. I will have to hear another song from his CD before I can judge. This song does nothing for me.

  4. 4cap says:

Karen–really take a listen to “How Many Words” and see what you think. They’ve been playing their hearts out the last month :)

If you liked AI Blake, then you should give the CD a try. Break Anotha really isn’t a good example of how the rest of the album sounds. One of the best cuts is “Here’s My Hello”. He uses a lower register toward the end and his voice is smooth like it was on the show.

  6. Missy says:

Well, some who have seen him perform on other TV shows commented that he was too spazzy and now the comments are that he’s too tired? Spazzy or tired, I don’t care because I enjoy what he and his band put out there. He’s performing Break Anotha because it’s the single that’s released. There are a lot of tracks on the CD (Audio Day Dream) that really showcase his voice. He sounds great.

  7. Barbariba says:

I for one really like this song. It is unlike anything else out there. But I agree it may not be for everyone. There are quite a few songs on his album that are really good. “Here’s My Hello”,”How Many Words(my personal favorite), “The End of the World” are just a few of them. You should really listen to the CD before making up your minds, because it seems there is something that everyone will like.
