Blake Lewis and Jordin Sparks – The Buzz

So many people are talking about it – How did Melinda get eliminated??? Well, I went to Yahoo to look at the buzz report and this is what I found:

“Over the last week, Blake Lewis pulled down five times as many searches as Doolittle. Fellow diva Jordin Sparks outranked Melinda in Buzz by a factor of four. In another important popularity indicator, Melinda only drew 20% of her searches from teens. Compare that to the 31% notched by Jordin or the amazing 55% brought in by Blake, and you’ll see that Doolittle needed to do more to connect with that all-important voting bloc.”

Also noteworthy – Blake has brought beatboxing out of obscurity. Yahoo had this to say – “Thanks to the skills of American Idol contestant Blake Lewis, beatboxing (+96%) hip-hopped into the Buzz this week, and we finally have an excuse to talk about this underappreciated art. Makes you feel all warm and fuzzy, doesn’t it?

Blake is the “WINNER” everyone remember that I said it weeks ago. P-Ditty look out

  2. A'kyra says:

Haha Gerri I do remember you saying that…LOL….I’ll give you your props if Blake wins it but everything has been so unpredictable this season…I say Jordin takes it.. ;)

Doolittle would crush either of them, if we remove the voting factor. Since it is there however, there is nothing that could be changed. Blake has very mediocre vocal powers, but his beatboxing has been seeing him through. Jordin is above average, for somebody so young. If justice is to prevail, JORDIN should prevail.

But remembering that Aiken got beaten by a much lesser-endowed opponent, I will not give a fearless forecast. AI is still ‘Holllywood’ after all.

  4. Jeanne says:

I don’t know, guys. Logically, I’m saying that Jordin is going to take it, but part of me is pulling the more creative contestant. She might be more vocally talented (I’m not even sure about this because I have concerns) but Blake is going to be able to create and write music. Isn’t that the best candidate for success?

Dante – go to Wikipedia.org and look up Idol controversies (or American Idol controversies, or something like that). It says that Clay led the votes until the last week and the producers have acknowledged that there might have been a voting irregularity. Interesting… I loved Ruben, though.

  5. AI fan says:

This is American Idol…I Idolize Jordin :] Either way they both will get to have a CDso why not give the crown to the 17 year old? I bet Melinda would love that, in her interview she smiled so big when asked about Jordin and she called her “her baby girl , Jordin” It was so sad! It should have been Melinda and Jordin in the finale

  6. alexie says:

Blake is good on stage singing createively, but on CD? his voice not strong, distinct enough. As CD producer, (albeit a small one) I procude it.

  7. Noela says:

    Jordin should win.

  8. Lauren says:

    GO BLAKE!

  9. Angi says:

Melinda got voted off due to judge/producer manipulation. The last few weeks they have made it look like Blake was in the bottom 2 when actually he was in the top 2 and Melinda was in the bottom.
They have wanted Jordin to win for weeks now. Jordin is a great singer but most of what has been said to her has been OVER praise. They convinced Melinda’s fans that she was safe. If you think your favorite is safe you dont vote as much as you do when you think they are in danger. That is why Simon wasnt that kind to Jordin. By not praising her and by praising Melinda they made Melinda’s fans complacent and Jordin’s fans scared. They wanted Blake in the finale with Jordin because they feel that if Blake is in the finale with Jordin she will win.
    Manipulation at its best.

It is quite evident that both contestants are very talented. Not, one may be more vocally talented & the other may be a better entertainer. But, think about it. Who is really more deserving? Jordin, whose father played for the NFL? Or Blake, who comes from an average family?

The girl’s father played for the NFL for crying out loud, she was already bursting with opportunities considering the position that her father was it. What more can she ask for?

  11. Jeanne says:

Angi – I must say that there were times during the season, particularly in the last 5 weeks, when I felt that the manipulation was obvious. I could be wrong but it just felt that way. It’s too bad.

Dani – *sigh* I have to remain as neutral as possible but your words definitely crossed my mind in the last couple of days. It is a bit frustrating to see those who already have a foot in the door getting even more chances. It’s like last year with Katharine McPhee – her father works in television and she lives in Hollywood. Why take the spot from someone without those connections? I’m not saying I don’t like Kat or Jordin, for that matter, but I would be lying if I said it didn’t frustrate me.

It’s like on Oprah – I hate to see an audience member who already looks well-off win a prize that they could afford to buy for themselves when someone in the audience could really, truly appreciate the gesture. It doesn’t feel right.

  12. A'kyra says:

    Jeanne,
You are right to a certain extent, well, maybe not to a certain extent but it’s like this; I agree that people who already have outstanding connections should not have a problem getting their foot in the door and really should not use Idol to do that and let less fortunate ones go for it. But on the other hand can Idol really tell people if you already have connections please don’t bother. That is a shame really because the people that have these connections should utilize them. But in any case, based on last night’s performances, in my opinion, Jordin blew Blake away. Especially the last song they both sang….Jordin took off and ran with it…
FYI- word on the street is Sanjaya did not come out for the “get together” meet n greet b/c he is getting some outragous hair-do for tonight….lord help us…do we really have to listen to him sing tonight???!!!

  13. umm yea blake is amazing and can sing and i wanted him to win but jordin is a better singer

  14. Jordin Sparks is the WINNER!!!!!
