July 15, 2007 by Jeanne
Canadian Idol will be welcoming some great singers to perform later in the season.
Pop stars Avril Lavigne, Rihanna, Maroon 5 and Mika will be showing up on Canadian Idol in the weeks to come.
“We are flattered to have been approached by some of the world’s top artists,” said executive producer John Brunton, in a release.
Rihanna will be the first to appear, performing her hit “Umbrella” on the July 18th episode.
Brian May and Roger Taylor of rock group Queen will work with the competitors on Aug. 6 and 7, followed by members of Maroon 5 on Aug. 13 and 14. British singer Mika will appear Aug. 27 and 28.
Lavigne and last year’s Idol winner Eva Avila are scheduled to perform on the Sept. 11 finale. According to CTV, negotiations are almost complete with a “superstar” to also appear on the final episode.
