Who’s next to go? Jaydee Bixby? I’d rather see Carly Rae and Brian in the Final Two.

Carly should go…

I’m not surprised, unfortunately. I hope this serves as good exposure for him and his band.
I think that it’s anybody’s game now. The top 3 have completely different styles. I’m going to make a complete guess and say that Carly Rae goes home next (not that she deserves to!). Brian has been getting so much praise lately and I don’t see Jaydee EVER being sent home because of his cult-like fanbase, haha.
Can anyone tell me who else was in the bottom two? I didn’t catch the show.

If this was an Elvis Impersonation Contest then Jaydee should win….but isn’t it about finding someone original???

IS THIS ABOUT BEING CUTE OR BEING GOOD?

I’m not surprised at all, after last night. Poor Dwight. I was embarrassed for him.
I think it’s an interesting Top 3.

“Carly should go” can only be a comment from a young girl fascinated with the good looks of one of the male singers and has no appreciation and understanding of musical talent. Poor child! This is what I don’t like about ONLY using public voting.

im not trying to start an argument here but people have different tastes… so who one person thinks is a very good singer another person may not like at all. so the person who said carly should go could very well just not like her particular style.

There was no greater fan of Jaydee than I, but I agree with the judges: Carly and Brian are better; in fact they are much, much better. But the girls, let’s face it, will vote for Jaydee if he falls on his head. And I was pulling for the kid to give it all he had, and lately, the last two shows, he just hasn’t done it for me (or for the judges). I’m still hoping he comes through with a kick-ass performance. But no matter how big a fan you might be, we all know who the pros are on this show!

i dont like Carly Rae’s style of singing. that is not the same thing as saying she cant sing. i just dont LIKE it.
COSIE — not trying to start an argument, however… what show have you been watching instead of the past two episodes? ’cause if you were actually watching CI, you would see that the judges HAVE been impressed with jaydee the past 2 shows :) i am not denying he had weak moments — because he has. im saying he’s made up for them, especially after his 2nd performance last night (and the judges agreed:D)
as for Dwight, i also felt embarrassed for him. it’s a shame, but it was forseeable.

I hear ya, Liss. Just want to emphasize that I’ m pull’n for the kid, and he might win because of the young voters, and that has a lot to do with his looks; but the reality of it is that — and you have to admit — the two others are better. Which judge said that Jaydee should get off the show and make it on his good looks. He needs a better song, maybe staying with his Elvis country style, and show us what his voice can really do.

i think he sounded less-elvis-y last night, and i really liked it!
i am sure you are right, some people ARE voting for jaydee because of how he looks (which is understandable, im sure you’ll agree ;) hahah jk) but he does have talent, which is why I personally vote for him.
i dont know about “the other 2 are better” i’m not saying they are bad at all! its just that they havent “hooked me” like jaydee has. he is just so different from anything i’ve ever seen on idol before. he makes me want to tune in every week just to listen to him sing, and im sure other people feel the same :)
people compare him (unrightfully) to sanjaya. i think he is more comparable to jacob hoggard, who “hooked” viewers the same way jaydee has.
just my opinion :)

It’s refreshing to hear your comments, Liss, which tells me that not everyone is voting for Jaydee solely because of his looks. I agree he’s got a great voice. Will you do me a favour: give Carly a listen to, despite the fact she’s singing Jazz, which young people hate, for the most part. I’d like to hear her sing something current, upbeat. I still think Carly and Brian are equally the best but my money will be on Brian because people don’t like jazz. Jaydee, on the other hand, could lose on his lack of choreography. “Fever” didn’t cut it with me, maybe it did with others. What’s a good Elvis song for Jaydee that will showcase his voice and knock ‘em dead? Surrender?

I agree that Dwight’s departure was forseeable, based on his lack of comfort with singing the standards. And it looked like he expected it, too… small comfort, I suppose.
From here on in, I think it’s anyone’s game. As others here have mentioned, the singing styles and the general appeal of the top 3 are so completely different that I don’t feel equipped to predict anything that might happen now.

I gotta jump in here. I don’t think the two others are better than Jaydee. For me, all three of them have had weak moments and stellar ones. Brian is like a roller coaster for me - he’s up and down (and when he’s up, he’s up). Carly is one of those people that you are either going to love or hate. Okay, maybe that’s not true yet since I can’t decide but I mean in the long run (like post-Idol). Jaydee is consistent even if I don’t completely love him. If I’m not mistaken, he has never been in the bottom 3 before either.
Just so you know - I stopped voting when Greg was voted off so, for me, it’s any man/woman’s game at this point. I have no allegiance to any of them. I just cover the news :)

hahah Jeanne, i agree with everything you said (except, as im sure you know, my allegiance is with jaydee lol) but yes, what you said about brian and carly rae is exactly my opinion :)

Liss - I am so glad to find out that I am not alone. I like Carly and I liked her so much during the audition phase that I think I dedicated a post to her (and Greg Neufeld and Jessica Sheppard and Sam Romijn, lol) but I have not completely enjoyed her for the rest of the season. There are things that she does that completely annoy me and if I hear the “vulnerable” thing one more time I am going to scream. The judges ruined that for me because I believe it was true in the beginning and now that she knows it, I believe sometimes she plays it up. Not that that is a bad thing, you gotta sell yourself, for sure but I feel like the judges outed one of her best traits and it’s being exploited :(
By the way, I love jazz. My mom is a jazz singer :)

Okay Jeanne, I’m beginning to think one of us is actually a clone of the other and we just don’ t know it yet! LOL
(Though in my case, my love of jazz comes from my dad who plays sax in a jazz band.)

YOU GIRLS SURE THINK ALIKE. AMAZING. ISN’T IT ALL ABOUT CHOREOGRAPHY AND PRESENTATION? CHUCKY WAS SENSATIONAL. SORRY, GIRLS, I AGREE WITH THE JUDGES. JAYDEE HAS THE VOICE AND THE LOOKS; HE NEEDS CHOREOGRAPHY, AND HE SHOWED A LOT MORE IN THE LAST SHOW.

I completely agree with you, Cosie, that it should be between Carly and Brian. But I’ve been very vocal about my opinion of Jaydee in previous comments and I’m trying to be a good girl now, so I’m practicing my diplomacy. ;-)

Weirdgrrl (I can’t even spell it) you are wise to be diplomatic; but I would be curious as to what criticism, if any, you had previously of Jaydee — in what department? Jazz is more difficult to sing than country, and I think it takes a special talent. If Jaydee stays in his element, which is (?), I wonder how far this kid could go!

Sorry for my weird spelling… LOL.
My main criticism of Jaydee has been that he hasn’t really found his true voice yet. I don’t believe that the exaggerated twang and/or the Elvis impersonator sound are the true Jaydee. I’m not saying the kid doesn’t have potential (even though I am soo not a country music fan), but I don’t think he has matured as an artist in the way that the others have. And I’m not sure if I’ve said this before but I actually think that winning this thing could stunt his growth rather than accelerate it. My sideline criticism has been the cult-like devotion of his fans who vote for him regardless of his performance. *ducks for cover*

LOL. Weirdgrrl you are hilarious. I was going to say that ducking for cover isn’t necessary but, on second thought, it coule be wise :)
Here’s my thoughts on it. I try to be as impartial as possible throughout the season but since we’re at the top 3 now, why the heck not!?!?
Brian - he can be really good when he gets in the “zone” and his Karma Police had me near tears because I thought it was so good. He isn’t very consistent to me, though. I can sleep through some of the performances, even though I like him. His voice is nice but it does remind me of other people. He knows how to work the stage, though. I just want to see him set himself apart a little more - it’s not enough to just pick songs you love, you have got to have a persona to go with it, you know?
Carly - she’s pretty sure of who she is and she is talented and unique but I fear sometimes that she might become a one-trick pony. I do, however, think this will be avoidable when she’s out making her own music so it’s a non-issue. I also don’t want to see her sell her “cuteness” and “vulnerability” more than she sells her singing. There have been some downright atrocious notes coming out of her mouth (please guys, even if you love her be honest - you wouldn’t say your spouse or significant other is perfect but you love them anyway, right?). I think that given creative freedom, a little grounding and some practice on tightening up her vocals could lead to a great indie/jazz career.
Jaydee - he lies somewhere between the other two. Brian reminds me of other people and Jaydee reminds most people of Elvis so the same suggestion applies - find your own style and voice. Jaydee is young and has lived in a small town his whole life (I’ve been there several times and it is small) so I think that a little exposure to other country and rock influences will do him good. Like Carly, I don’t want him to be a one-trick pony. He could stand a little diversity and I think that will come with age. His stage presence is improving but still needs lottttssss of work. I swear, though, that kid looks like he was genetically engineered in a laboratory somewhere. That face, lol… He’s got talent, can be “groomed” and, in the right market, could be extremely fierce.
Bottom line - they all need work but they can all find work after Idol is over, lol. They just need to shed some stereotypes and labels and, unfortunately, Idol put them there:(

This is the most wide open race of any final 3 in any Idol competition, I think. I could honestly see any of them in the finale. But if I had to go out on a limb, I’d say Carly Rae and Jaydee make the final. I just hope the song is more along the lines of “Alive” (the best Idol winner’s song EVER from ANY country) and less like “Meant to Fly.”

I don’t think that Carly Rae is a better singer than Jaydee. I think Jaydee is way more talented in the vocal aspect than Carly. I also agree with Jeanne that ever since the judges have been practically on their knees asking Carly to be vulnerable, she has played it up too much. It comes across a bit phony to me.
Weirdgrrl raises a good point. When you here Jaydee talking you would never guess he had the singing voice that he presents to the stage. It just doesn’t seem natural. I wonder if it is really his singing voice or if he was just brought up listening to a very deep twangy voice and that is what he is copying.
I could see Brian possibly winning this. The thing is that he is inconsistent. Sometimes he has really brilliant days and others I could do without.
I feel that Brian would make songs that I would actually want to buy. I couldn’t say the same for Carly because I don’t think I could be able to listen to so much screeching, growling and sopping into the mic. I don’t think I could buy a Jaydee album because that style is way too country for me. But that’s just me and my style.
I think the final two should be Jaydee and Brian.

I don’t think Weirdgrrl is anything like her name suggests; in fact, I think she’s pretty much on with respect to Jaydee: Example, main issues with him are maturity, stage presence, fan devotion, and those are all important issues. But as much as we all love the guy, can we declare a winner based on “potential”? I think not. But like Liss said, she (and probably everybody else) tunes in every week just to hear this kid. And I think there is a Colonel out there lerking in the background, because I really think this kid is a goldmine. I’d like to hear from some of the men out there, because the girls seem not to favour Carly’s vulnerability, her screeching and growling and sopping, as it has been described; and I love it. All your comments are interesting to read. I wouldn’t be paying any attention to this at all if it hadn’t been that my wife likes (loves) jaydee!!!!!

I liked Dwight but I agree I think it was his time to go. He really did poorly with those standards. So why is this discussion all about Jaydee and Carly Rae? Brian for the win!! Although I’d rather see him make a CD with his band so perhaps it would be better if he did not win. I wonder how this discussion would change if Liam and Greg were still in this thing. I think a Brian, Liam and Greg top 3 would have been way more interesting.
