WTF just happened??? What the heck? I cannot even believe this!!!!
Greg Neufeld has been eliminated from Canadian Idol. These are my first major tears of the season. Losing Liam Styles Chang was bad enough but this???? What were you smoking last night Canada?
Is it because it was a holiday and no one was around??? I know it was a civic holiday but it was also BC Day yesterday which might account for why the two British Columbians were in the bottom. Could this be???
Seriously, Canada, you got this sooooooo wrong. Who knows whether he should have won but he definitely should have been in the finals. What the hell? I am soooooo mad >:(

I can’t even believe what just happened. I honestly felt that the final would be Greg vs. Carly Rae and that Greg would win. What were they doing in the bottom 2?????
I am seriously in shock. This is absolutely ridiculous.
i cried. i honestly did. it was the saddest most shocking elimination i have ever witnessed of canadian idol. jaydee is my favourite but greg was up on my list also. what the hell was canada thinking, he was a true performer and stepped up to the plate everytime. he got a standing ovation and ben said ‘ i dont know if i am supposed to say this but canada you got it wrong ‘ ,, but he just may have deserved the canadian idol title. this is ridiculos.

I seriously, honestly, cried when I heard that and when Ben went off on his little rant I cried even more. I cannot believe this just happened. I thought it was going to be a Greg/Carly finish.

I really thought it was Matt’s turn to go tonight. I’m in shock, Greg was definitely one of the best. I thought he’d be in the top 3 for sure. I think the eliminations on the “Rockstar” series were better than CI because the public would vote for the bottom 3 then the judges (well, the band) would choose who went home. That was tragedies like this are avoided, for the most part.
my favourite is jaydee, but i was still outraged by greg’s elimination. my reaction was exactly like yours, Jeanne.

the good thing was that “we are the champions” was a really good song to finish with…
what i think is happening is that people just assume other people will vote, so they dont have to (which is why i vote like crazy).
I cried so bad
After being robbed of his title last year, Greg had the guts to audition again, which is something that most contestants wouldn’t do.
Week after week Greg wowed the judges by performing songs in his style, and with his amazing voice that makes everyone else in the competition look like beginners no mater how long they have been singing for.
He is the ONLY contestant that has the vocal strength, range and experience to accually make a name for himself as the canadian idol of 2007.
But his idol journey was cut way too short tonight.
Oddly enough, the 3 best singers were in the bottom two, Greg Neufeld, Carly Rae Jepsen and Brian Melo.
If I had to chose, I would have rather Brian go home.
but no, Canada was all on crack last night.
Im disgusted to see that contestants like Dwight, Jaydee and Tara are still in the competition.
Dwight has about as much talent as zebra’s do spots.
Jaydee will not be a good canadian idol. Him and Tara can only sing one type of music, country. Everything they do, they sound the exact same, they sing with no emotion at all.
Yet again, Greg neufeld was robbed of a title he rightfully deserved.
Now it’s up to carly rae.
Greg was never an absolute favourite of mine. I loved when he sang “Daughters” before the top 10, but he never really won me over after that. I couldn’t deny though, that he had a great great voice. And with the amount of popularity he seemed to have, I was positive he’d make it to the top 2. I’m absolutely shocked.
I’m as shocked as the rest of you. Liss, I think you’re right that people just assumed Brian, Carly Rae and Greg were safe so didn’t bother to vote. I think it’s the same reason we lost Liam and possibly Montana (although she was more controversial, so it might not have been for that reason… but that’s what I felt at the time). I’m sure that pleading on this blog for people to vote is like preaching to the choir, but OMG I wish the rest of the population would pick up the damn phone and not assume anything.
Did Western Canada get too wrapped up in the civic holiday??? Sheesh! This is terrible!
I hope the judges or the other contestants make a statement about this autrocity. How stupid is a voting system that allows people to manipulate the results. What ever happened to one person one vote???? They have the technology with caller ID to limit votes to one per phone number!! This competition has been ROBBED!!!
Shocked, no he can’t really sing, being pimped by the judges every week, of course it is hard for Greg, hugging is no good, they go after the hug. Car;y should be next or Brian. I am not sad for Martha, she didn’tget any pimping from the judges but they told her every week that she was the best singer in the competition. She knew she was going but Greg had no clue, I am heartbroken for all the Greggy fans. I won’t be suprise if Jaydee wins this whole thing, he is cute, blonde and of course, adorable, the people who will buy his records will be infants, children and children under 5, that will last 3 months and then what, my point is this is not a singing competition but a Reality Show and the only thing that matters is the ratings. I pick Carly & Jaydee for shock factor and Jaydee taking the crown. Sorry Greggy fans, not this time, maybe 3rd would be a charm.
Howard… Greg can’t really sing?!?!?! I could understand if you said he wasn’t your style or you didn’t like the tone of his voice, but don’t try to claim that Greg can’t really sing. Just because he’s not who you want to listen to doesn’t negate that the man has talent.
And sorry to all the Jaydee fans out there, but if he wins I think this will be my last season watching Canadian Idol. The loyal block voting that has nothing to do with performance, coupled with the apathy and complacency of the rest of the voting public, is ruining the show this season. And if both Carly Rae and Brian get eliminated, I won’t even bother watching until the end of this season. There wouldn’t be anyone left for me to root for. (Well, Matt I guess, but he’s got some growing to do yet and I don’t think he’s got the fan base to outlast the others.) This is just downright depressing.
I’m in B.C. and I managed to vote. Honestly. Voting was between 10pm and midnight. If you were that wrapped up in the holiday, you were partying way too hard.
The bottom three were the top three, in my opinion. Maybe it’s VFTW influence. I think that’s just cruel, though. How would you like it if you won the competition based on VFTW and then nobody bought your album because you really weren’t that good? It gives these kids false hope. And that’s just mean.
They’re crowing about their victory over on VFTW. I’d leave a message, but I don’t feeling like dignifying their idiocy with a response.
Greg will have an album. And it will probably sell better than the eventual winner. I’m guessing, based on all the whiners on the official CTV bulletin board and their cries of “racism!”, that it will probably be Matt. The opinion of some of the more vocal ones: Who cares if he can sing? If you don’t vote for the black guy, you’re racist.
Ugh.
Look weirdggirl, Greg tried twice it took him two trips to Top 22 to get to Top 7, that’s hard work for him and to be eliminated, he should have a pretty idea that it won’t happen for him. Martha Joy just turned 16 and then auditioned and got in, but the judges didn’t make it easy on her, they knew she will have a career no matter what, Enrique Iglesias, the guy who sold 40 mlllion cd said that he cannot imagine Martha when she turns 25, we are talking powerhouse voice here, Greg is good but how good, it was proven tonight when he got voted off. Martha was not a suprised, Jake Gold was going around in the radio here in Toronto, bashing her week after week, but Greg got pimped, boy every performance. Shocking result, can’t blame you if don’t watch anymore. I stopped watching when I heard Jake Gould’s disgusting remarks on Martha Joy, no wonder this CI is a big joke, thank God Martha & Greg got eliminated, can you imagine if they were in the company of Jaydee, no I can’t. Don’t be depress there is always life after Greg, same for Martha fans, I just go to her website and listen to her songs and then I thank God for that beautiful voice. You should do the same, it will ease the pain.
Howard, to say that “it won’t happen” for Greg is just ignorant and petty. The judges aren’t just some random doofuses the producers pulled off the street. They are in the music business. They produce records. If they think Greg is good (and I defy to you say otherwise, after seeing their reactions to his elimination), then they probably know what they’re talking about.
It’s obvious you don’t like Greg. Fine. You don’t have to buy his album. Just like nobody can force me to buy Martha’s (thank goodness). But saying that Greg can’t sing is like saying Sanjaya can. You just leave the rest of us wondering if you’re hard of hearing…

Tom & Lisa – it was a difficult night, that’s for sure. Just once, it would be nice to see the judges have a strong reaction the week after someone good got voted off.
L – I hear ya. I agree about the racism thing but I don’t understand how Khalila Glanville left so early in the competition. That doesn’t make sense to me. Then someone came on this site and actually used the “n” word – it only increases suspicions. I had a good laugh about your holiday comment – hopefully that wasn’t the problem

First, thanks Jeanne for finding a new outlet to supply my Idol ‘crack’! I really appreciate your time and effort.
And I’m SHOCKED. Seriously, gutted. I thought for sure that he’d be around longer, but yes, I thought that of Liam Styles Chang too! Idol always does this…American Idol too, there is that one singer that the crowd loves that they end up booting off. I really really can not believe it. I’ll be a Greg supporter long after this, I can tell ya that!

Jake Gould was bashing Martha’s performance the day after, every week, he spent 80% of his airtime bashing a 16 year a girl, find he doesn’t like her genre, but for the love of God, she is just a kid, calling her disgusting, mocking her, while praising Carly and Greg, he had a personal vendetta against Martha Joy, that’s the only explanation I could think of or because she is half-filipino, heck I could think of million things why he hated her so much. Good thing, Enrique Iglesias recognized Martha’s talent and sent her flowers to cheer her up, now that’s class. I wouldn’t be suprise if they lost lots of voters and viewer this week because of Martha, Toronto doesn’t vote but Martha survived from Top 22 to Top 8, this girl was brave and courageous to face this judges every week knowing they hated her guts. People here in Toronto knew for weeks she was going because of Jake Gould. You should get a transcript from Easy Rock 97.3, let us know what is fair. To Jake Gould, emotion was not enough to keep Greg in the competition. What’s this thing with Ben Mulroney he just insulted the people the put him on that show. He should be fired for that speech, and what would he say to the next one to go, you deserve it, no hard feelings.
Howard, every time you open your mouth you convince me of your stupidity. In your last post alone you’ve played the race card, accused the judges of hating a competitor’s guts (why would they have put her in the Top 22 if they hated her so much?), and called for the firing of the show’s host. I suggest you stop taking this so seriously.
Howard, first of all, if you’re going to bash a judge, at least get his name right: it’s Jake Gold, not Gould. Secondly, if you want to post a transcript of that interview, I would certainly be curious as to what Jake actually said, because I don’t believe for a minute that he called Martha Joy “disgusting.” People knew for weeks that Martha would be leaving because she hasn’t evolved enough as a performer to communicate her emotions to the audience, at least not yet… it had nothing to do with Jake. And I’m not even going to touch your race comment. If you’re so pissed off at the show, stop watching it.

Wierrdgirrl, Jake Gold – I can’t even type his name correctly, this guy will ruin the show if he doesn’t go. He did say that Martha’s performance was disgusting and he used another word (I am not gonna say). He is a total disgrace, no class, I watched the live show and he didn’t even bother to walk over to Martha to wish her well, why, he was on the radio that morning bashing and mocking the poor girl to the point of cruelty and you don’t believe it, you don’t have to. By the way, does anyone know the vote count this week, just curious…. maybe it is extremely high or embarrasing low… could it be the holiday, but Brian is still with the show… heck, I’m done with Canadian Idol, after Ben’s outburst, Zack’s hugging and Greg’s elimination like it was the 2nd coming of Jesus Christ, who want’s to watch, what a turn off.
They could have avoided this whole fiasco if they had just given him the crown and they can call it “The Greg Neufeld Show”, if would have been easier for every Gregganians out there.
My opinion is this. If the Canadian public will not vote fairly (one vote per person), and vote for talent, than Idol is fake. I will not watch it if the judges, who are all musical professionals and know the music business inside and out, are not given more input on who goes home. Everyone has their favorite, but to eliminate a talent like Greg Neufeld this early in the game shows what a farce Canadian Idol is becoming. I will buy his CD. I hope Jake Gold and the others help him get a recording contract. Now, to the other people commenting I say this. We are all entitled to out opinions. Being rude does not compliment anyone.
I was also surprised Greg was axed.But what surprises me the most is that the heavy set black guy(can’t remember his name) is still in the top 5.He is a terrible singer! He can’t sing worth sh*t!!!

I have to disagree with you, Richard. Matt Rapley has a lot of potential, he just needs to up the performance factor and find some consistency. But that sure doesn’t mean that he can’t sing. When he hits his groove he’s a powerhouse.
What boggles my mind, however, is that Jaydee is still there.
I think Jaydee will win! I think Matt will be the next one to be sent home.The one I really thought had potential was one of the girls in the top 20.I can’t remember her name but she was the one who lost her voice many weeks back and still competed.It was the show where it was between her and Christine(the girl on the crutches) who somehow beat her and I have no idea why.I wish I could remember her name.She should still be in the top 5
I agree with Patricia that it should be about talent but there are times when I think this show is fake!
I think they already know who will win and the votes that are phoned in mean nothing.I mean last year’s was a good example.Craig should have won and not been the runner up.
I remember her name now,it was Jessica Sheppard who I was rooting for. I was so angry she lost out to Christine.The judges probably just took pity on Christine because she was on crutches. I think Jessica should still be in the competition.I hope she tries again next year.She can sing well and is very attractive! She has killer green eyes!
I remember that episode! I was ticked off Jessica lost out to her also.I remember her mom was so upset she was running away saying “i’m gonna be sick”………It looked like her mom did throw up.
