Canadian Idol Results Show – July 4, 2007

July 4, 2007 by Jeanne

Wow. Again, I am surprised by some of the choices Canadians have made! Tonight’s bottom 4 guys were: Clifton Murray, Andrew Austin, Brian Melo & Dwight D’eon. The bottom 4 girls were: Scarlett Burke, Naomi-Joy Blackhall, Mila Miller & Khalila G.

I’m sorry – Canada made some mistakes here in my opinion. The guys were okay, I guess. I didn’t agree with Andrew Austin but I wasn’t screaming. Putting Mila and Khalila in that group was ridiculous! Despite my personal opinions, Annika Odegard deserved to be in the bottom 4 tonight, without question!

Who went home?

clifton murray

Clifton Murray went home as I predicted and it was more than right. He was done last week but scraped by. He seems like a nice enough guy and his singing isn’t terrible but the boys are pretty good this year and he just doesn’t cut it.

andrew austin

Andrew Austin was a shock for me. He is a really, really good singer and a good musician. I believe he was voted off based on his looks. No – he’s not hideous but he’s not gorgeous and he makes scary looking faces. This is really unfortunate!

scarlett Burke performing

Scarlett Burke was no surprise and, although I felt she deserved to be there longer than Annika, I’m not going to cry over this one. I’d like to see her try again next year (like Greg Neufeld from last season) and come back with more maturity and control over her voice. She could be great!

naomi-joy blackhall

Naomi-Joy Blackhall is going home and I’m totally okay with it. I was in her corner and giving her the benefit of the doubt but I think she is a tad bit arrogant and possibly even a little full of herself. It turned me off and the performances just didn’t work out. I think she lost herself between making the top 22 and performing live. She was good during the audition rounds and just became dull. Too bad.

Well I would like to question your doubts about Annika Odegard being in the bottom 4. She has a fresh marketable look. She is different. She shows versatility, maturity and capabilities beyond her 16 years and obviously she has a growing fan base that thinks she shouldn’t be in the bottom 4. I can’t wait to see her accompany herself on piano and stick it to all you non supporters.

The worst part about your comment, Angela, is that you didn’t seem to read my post properly. I said “Despite my personal opinions…” – Did you even bother to ask what my personal opinion is? One thing I think is a mistake is if we become a fan of someone and then refuse to tell the truth when they mess up – it prevents them from learning from their mistakes. I live in Calgary and I know how supportive we are of our people (heck, we celebrated the Flames losing the cup because we love them).

I never said I hated Annika and I would really appreciate it if you didn’t come to my site and just attack me because I am being honest. I like the girl (look back on my posts over the weeks) but she really did not do well the other night.
There is a poll on this site and last time I checked, Annika was not in the lead (or even close). Apparently, there are others who did not think she did well.

What’s the big deal if she had a bad week? Is anyone suggesting she’s perfect???

Whoa. Okay do you have eyes Angela? Where did you read that Jeanne thought Annika was not “versatile” or “fresh”? All Jeanne said was that she thought Annika had a crappy night and she didn’t sing well. That’s the TRUTH! Your comments on a previous page and on this one as well, Angela, are just plain unnecessary! On the other page that you commented on, you wrote that Jeanne was wrong – but did you read her comment? She says and I quote”I’d have to say that it will be 2 of these 3 ladies(referring to Naomi, Annika, and Scarlett). This ended up being true: Naomi went home and so did Scarlett. So why was this necessary: ” Guess you were wrong Jeanne? Better luck next time.” Even if you were referring to the boys you still were wrong because both Cliffton and Brian were in the bottom. What you did was totally uncalled for.

Also just because Annika had a bad night does not mean that her fans have to go buckwild and be defensive ;)

I think that Annika has had two not so great weeks and that should have been the reason she went home…or at least made it into the bottom four. But she obviously has built up a bigger fan base so she stays…for now. Some of the other girls need to really do better next week to increase their own fan bases. There are a lot of people who do not have a clear favourite and will vote strictly on that evening’s performance. They need to really stand out to get these votes from week to week. I was glad to see Dwight and Brian make it through. I think they both have the potential to do something great on the show and hopefully this was the scare they needed to “step it up” for next week. I did like Andrew though and would have liked to see him again but it’s so hard because someone has to go. I hate these weeks when it has to be four of them.

I love Greg Neufeld!!! He’s sooooo hot and an amazing singer/performer!!!!!

  7. Dave says:

Again, I must state that it doesn’t matter who went home this week. Tyler, JD, Liam and Montana are still there, the rest are just filler and fodder.

  8. miranda and Taylor says:

We think Annika Odegard is the best person on the Canadian idol show!! The judges are stupid because there critizing her when she did a perfectly good job.
    Go Annika!!!!!!!!!!

  9. Angela says:

Oh Girls!!!! Such nonsense you speak. The truth, as I see it, was in my posting on this site and other sites. You seem to have too much time on your hands if you’re cross referencing me. Apparently you neglected to read my comments. Never said you ‘hated’ Annika. Never said you thought she wasn’t mature, versatile. Never said anything you accused me of. I simply made MY opinion public on your site and it seems you can’t handle the um…constructive criticism/response(?). Food for thought don’t you think? If you can’t accept other peoples opinions on YOUR public opinion site then maybe you need to sign off. It would be interesting to see how you would handle all these comments in cyberspace if it were you being scrutinised. I will be signing off from your desparate attempt to have you 15mins of fame. You people are too sorry and lonley for my time. And no, I don’t need my 15 min of fame as I have been enjoying my life as a professional performance artist for over 15 years. So that would give me some street cred when answering to your posts. I will respect your request and not bother checking back. Wouldn’t want to cause you any upset.

  10. Lauren says:

Oh my god. Some people are just delusional! By attacking people on this site and using accusatory words, you have to admit that you make it seem as if Jeanne had said that she hated Annika. You also did say you questioned Jeanne’s doubts about Annika, and then you said all the reasons why Jeanne was wrong. That’s when you brought up Annika being “fresh”. You DID make it seem as though Jeanne thought the contrary. I think you should know(even with your “unbelievably wise 15 years of experience”) that there is a fine line between making your opinion known and then being rude to someone for really no good reason. I am not necessarily referring to this post but to the one about Jeanne’s predictions(http://www.idolstalker.com/canadian-idol-pre-results-post/) You acted as if you got slapped in the face or something.

So, I am shocked to see that you found it relevant to discuss your “15 years of experience”. Guess what honey: My whole family is in the music biz and has been since the 70s. And. So. Who cares? I know you don’t. As someone who has been exposed to music my whole life I could argue that I have an upper hand – but what would that have to do with people like you being rude? No one hear has said that you are not entitled to your own opinion because you are. But to go and act stupid on a comment page is a bit ridiculous. Just know that I am not offended about you expressing your opinion on THIS page but merely the other one.
