Carrie Underwood Raises the Bar

Carrie Underwood has become the first female country star to have four singles from her debut album soar to #1 on the charts. Her newest single, “Wasted,” is a certified hit along with the three previously released tracks “Jesus, Take the Wheel,” “Don’t Forget to Remember Me,” and “Before He Cheats.” Her success has allowed her to crossover into the mainstream with her videos now appearing on VH1 and MTV which is incredible considering the fact that the last female country star to air on MTV was back in 1999 when Shania Twain released “Man, I Feel Like a Woman.”

What an incredible journey she has had since she won American Idol! Stories like this and Jennifer Hudson’s reminds me why hearing people wanting to destroy American Idol makes me so sad.
