Carrie Underwood Sets a Record

On American Idol Gives Back a video of Carrie Underwood in Africa was shown with her cover of The Pretenders’ “I’ll Stand By You” accompanying the montage. The single was released exclusively on iTunes and has done so well, it debuted in the Top 100 of the Billboard 100. It is the first time a song released on on iTunes has accomplished this feat. Way to go, Carrie! It’s great because the money raised by the sales of this single are to be donated to charity.
xclusive iTunes track “I’ll Stand By You” (aff) debuts in the Top 10 of Billboard 100, making it the first exclusive iTunes track to do so.

Her performance was by far the best of the night. Including recorded or live performances. Absolutely moving!

It was touching, but the whole Idol gives back is huge Publicity Stunt.

Publicity stunt? Paris Hilton is a walking publicity stunt, but you tell me the last time someone raised over $70M as a publicity stunt. We should have more entertainment companies pulling those kinds of publicity stunts. We could probably find a cure for some of our major diseases.

I was a fan from the beginning. I loved when she sang that song and it touched me a lot
