Carrie Underwood Wins Big at Academy of Country Music Awards

Last night, American Idol winner, Carrie Underwood, took home the prize for “Entertainer of the Year” at the 44th Academy of Country Music Awards. The win ended Kenny Chesney’s four-year winning streak. She also won for “Top Female Vocalist.”
"I’ve had a lot of good moments in the past four years. This one takes the cake," a tearful Underwood said in accepting her “Entertainer of the Year” award. Then, when she was accepting her “Top Female Vocalist” award she said "I feel like I just won American Idol all over again."
Yay! I love that about Carrie! Some people win Idol and seem to want to shed the image as quickly as they can as if they believe that will help their career. Carrie always gives credit to the show that gave her the big break that she needed and I think she’s being rewarded.
Watch the video of the show-opener featuring Carrie, Brooks & Dunn, Taylor Swift, Rascal Flatts and Sugarland.
Here’s the video of Carrie singing “I Told You So.” It was an absolutely beautiful performance. She was effortlessly incredible. Did her dress remind anyone of the one Kelly Clarkson wore on the cover of her My December album (see it here)?

That’s exactly what I thought of when I saw Carrie’s dress too! I’ve heard a lot of people talking about it, some liked it, some didn’t, I did, but I thought Kelly wore it better.
Yes, I would have to agree that I also love the fact that Carrie remains proud of her American Idol roots and often mentions it. She is such a beautiful and gracious young woman. Her ACM performance was wonderful but the dress . . . a little over the top for me. Still, I got teary eyed during her acceptance of entertainer of the year.
