Chris Daughtry’s Acoustic Version of “Poker Face”
July 4, 2009 by Jeanne
Let me just get this out of the way – I’m not a big fan of Lady Gaga or her music for that matter. I know that “Poker Face” is very catchy (I’ve sung along to it on occasion) and I respect that but I can’t say that I love it.
Anyway, Chris Daughtry did an acoustic version of the song and I think it is soooooo much better than the original. I actually was able to pay attention to the lyrics and it feels like the song is actually telling a story.
Check it out, tell me what you think:
American Idol Stars at Clive Davis’ Pre-Grammy Party
February 8, 2009 by Jeanne
American Idol stars turned out to attend the pre-Grammy Awards part of Arista Records head, Clive Davis. From the pictures I was able to find, I saw Carrie Underwood (winner, Season 4), Jennifer Hudson (finalist, Season 3) Kelly Clarkson (winner, Season 1), Chris Daughtry (finalist, Season 5), Fantasia Barrino (winner, Season 3) and Idol judge, Paula Abdul. Other guests included big-name celebs like Miley Cyrus and Rihanna.

American Idol Season 5 – Top 12
The fifth season of American Idol produced one of the biggest shocks I’d ever felt watching the show.
When Chris Daughtry was up against Katharine McPhee for elimination, I was sure it was Kat’s time to go. Even she looked shocked and horrified. Chris was a fan-favorite and has gone on to enjoy HUGE success as the frontman for Daughtry so I still just don’t understand how he got eliminated.
Taylor Hicks went on to win with Katharine McPhee as his runner-up. I personally adored Elliott Yamin and was disappointed he didn’t win or come in second place. I also have to admit that I really liked Kevin Covais, especially his performance of “Starry, Starry Night.” Of course, this is also the season that brought you Kellie Pickler.
I could go on and on. Here’s the Top 12 (elimination dates from 2006):
- Taylor Hicks – Winner
- Katharine McPhee - May 24
- Elliott Yamin - May 17
- Chris Daughtry - May 10
- Paris Bennett - May 3
- Kellie Pickler - April 26
- Ace Young - April 19
- Bucky Covington - April 12
- Mandisa - April 5
- Lisa Tucker - March 29
- Kevin Covais - March 22
- Melissa McGhee - March 15
Here’s a video of the winning moment (look for Carrie Underwood and Anthony Federov in the audience) and Taylor singing “Do I Make You Proud?”

Daughtry Performs "Home" on Fox’s New Year’s Live - Video
January 2, 2009 by Jeanne
Daughtry performed their first huge single “Home” at the Mirage’s “Revolution Lounge” and I thought it was kind of a sketchy performance. I love Daughtry but it sounded like Chris Daughtry was having a bit of an off-night. What do you think?
Daughtry and David Cook to Perform on “New Years Eve Live”
Daughtry will be performing on Fox’s New Year’s Eve Live this year along with American Idol winner, David Cook, Scott Weiland and Lynyrd Skynard. The show, broadcasting from Las Vegas, will air on December 31, 2008 from 11pm-12:30am ET (tape-delayed broadcasts will air in different time zones).
Sounds like a great show! I always have a hard time finding the right countdown so I hope to catch this one!

Daughtry Wins 2008 American Music Award
Last night, Daughtry, won in the "Favorite Pop/Rock Band/Group/Duo" category at the 2008 American Music Awards. The band’s frontman is former American Idol contestant (season 5), Chris Daughtry.
I have to admit that I’m still amazed by the success and popularity of the band. I know that Chris was a huge favorite on the show and I was so shocked when he was eliminated, leaving Elliott Yamin (3rd place), Katharine McPhee (runner-up) and Taylor Hicks (winner) to round out the top three spots. He’s still going strong (the strongest of that season, for sure) and I’m really happy for him.

Chris Daughtry on 100th Episode of CSI:NY
I never watch CSI:NY (trust me, I mean NEVER) but I thought it was cool that former American Idol finalist, Chris Daughtry, appeared on the show’s 100th episode where a killer is targeting all the men named Mac Taylor across Manhattan. Of course, the lead detective (played by Gary Sinise) is also named Mac Taylor. *sigh* I was happily surprised to see Scott Wolf as one of the Mac Taylors (I was having some Party of Five nostalgia just this past weekend!). In one scene, Chris goes after Scott. What could be better than that!?
Check out a little of the episode:

Chris Daughtry to Appear on CSI: NY
September 20, 2008 by Jeanne
People is reporting that American Idol season 5 contestant, Chris Daughtry, will be appearing on CSI: NY alongside Rumer Willis and Scott Wolf. The episode that they’re filming is the CBS show’s 100th and is set to air in November.
The plot of the episode surrounds a serial killer who is in search of anyone named Mac Taylor, and apparently, Chris will be playing the character of Machiavelli Taylor, described as “an attractive 30-something year old musician.”
Well, this should be interesting! I’m very curious as to how that episode will end up. Are any of you big CSI fans?
