Katharine McPhee honors Lionel Richie

On Sunday, January 24th, artists celebrated gathered at the UNCF Evening of Stars tribute to Lionel Richie. A variety of musicians sang some of Lionel’s best-known hits from over there years. Katharine McPhee honored Lionel by performing his song “You Are”.
I thought she did a pretty good job overall, although she had a few moments where she was a bit flat. I loved her little blue dress!
What do you think of Katharine’s performance for Lionel Richie?

Katharine McPhee “Had It All” with Regis and Kelly

Katharine McPhee “Had It All” with Regis and Kelly

On January 6, 2010 Katharine McPhee dropped by Live With Regis and Kelly to promote her new album “Unbroken”. After chatting it up with Regis and Kelly, Katharine hit the stage with “Had It All”.
I think she did such a great job and she sounded wonderful. I love watching Regis and Kelly (mostly for Kelly Ripa, one of my favorite people on television) but that being said I find that a lot of times people sound terrible when they perform on the show because the mix just isn’t very good. Maybe it sounds better when you’re there live, …read more

Katharine McPhee cringes over old Idol performances

Katharine McPhee cringes over old Idol performances

Even though Katharine McPhee very nearly won American Idol, it seems that she would prefer to avoid subjecting herself to seeing those performances.

In a recent interview, Katharine said that when she watches her early performances when she competed against the likes of Chris Daughtry and eventual winner Taylor Hicks, she is “surprised how bad some of them were.”
Katharine claims that when she sees herself on the Idol stage she can always tell when she was clearly uncomfortable and when she tried too hard to perform instead of just letting the song tell its story. She also says that she …read more

Bucky Covington give $25,000 to Arthritis Foundation

Proving that he’s as much of a thoughtful sweetheart as he appeared to be on American Idol, season five finalist Bucky Covington gave $25,000 to the Arthritis Foundation’s Tennessee chapter.

Earlier this year, Bucky competed on the trivia game show “Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?” It was his winnings from the show that Bucky donated to the foundation.
After presenting the foundation with the donation, Bucky performed several songs on the venue’s stage, including “It’s Good To Be Us,” “I’ll Walk,” and “A Different World”. He also gave the crowd a sneak peek at a song from …read more

Kimberly Caldwell’s upcoming single “Mess of You”

Kimberly Caldwell’s upcoming single “Mess of You”

Remember Kimberly Caldwell? She was the firecracker from American Idol, season two who became even better known when David Cook asked her out on the red carpet before going in for the season finale.

Although I didn’t cheer for her in season two – I was a Clay Aiken supporter – I did always like her voice. It’s kind of husky and reminds me of Melissa Etheridge although it’s also immediately identifiable to me.
Kimberly has an album coming out soon and she gave a sneak peek of the upcoming single at a live performance recently. The song is …read more

Katharine McPhee’s New Look and New Sound? Hot or Not?

It’s been a few days since Katharine McPhee’s video for her new single “Had it All” hit the internet and I’d love to know what you think of it.
I know that she wants to set herself apart so she chopped off those gorgeous brown locks of hers and has opted for a short, blonde hairdo and I’ve got to say that I don’t really love it.  It feels like she’s trying too hard but, then again, maybe I just need to get used to it.
As for the song, it’s not bad but I feel like her voice could …read more

Katharine McPhee Talks About New Album, Life After Idol

First of all, what do you think of Katharine McPhee’s new look?  Is she rockin’ the blonde hair or not?  You tell me!  I kinda like it but I also don’t want her to go too far reinventing herself, you know?  I have to say that it reminds me a little bit of what Geena Davis looked like in The Long Kiss Goodnight.  Anyone else seeing that?
Anyway, I spotted this video and thought I’d share.  She talked a bit about how her upcoming album Unbroken is different from her first one (Katharine McPhee).  Let me just say really quickly that …read more

Katharine McPhee Attends Screening of “Home”

Katharine McPhee Attends Screening of “Home”

American Idol season 5 runner-up, Katharine McPhee, was seen at the screening of Home which was held at Stella McCartney’s Store last night in West Hollywood, California.
If you haven’t heard of the documentary, don’t worry – neither had I – but it does look like a great film to see.  It is made up of only aerial shots of various places around the world and, apparently, it’s pretty amazing because it shows our planet’s diversity but, also, the negative effect we’ve had on the ecological balance.
Yesterday, the movie was broadcast in 50 different countries simultaneously (a world record!) and it …read more

Katharine McPhee’s Paparazzi Protection

Katharine McPhee’s Paparazzi Protection

I saw this video a couple days ago and I seriously cracked up.  American Idol season 5 runner-up, Katharine McPhee, ran into some paparazzi trouble recently and was unexpectedly saved by a homeless woman named Quween.  The video of this rescue is, in itself, pretty amusing.
As if that wasn’t funny enough, the two paired up to create a “Funny or Die” video advertising Quween’s celebrity protection services and, at first, I was mildly amused but I quickly found myself laughing out loud.
I really hope that Quween gets some money out of all this so that she can get …read more
