Have you had a chance to listen to Blake Lewis’ new album, Heartbreak on Vinyl?  If you haven’t, you definitely need to check it out (it’s out today!  Buy it on Amazon or iTunes!).
It’s a lot closer to what you would expect from Blake than the music he released on Audio Day Dream and I really can’t say enough about how happy I am for him.  I had the opportunity to chat with Blake this morning.  Here’s the quick interview!
Idol Stalker: What were your main inspirations for the songs on Heartbreak on Vinyl?
Blake Lewis: My ex-girlfriend, actually.  When I …read more

Blake Lewis “Heartbreak on Vinyl” – What Do You Think?

Blake Lewis’ album Heartbreak on Vinyl comes out on October 6, 2009 but the second single (the title track) hit the internet a couple days ago.  It’s definitely got an 80s sound mixed with a modern dance vibe and, while I love the American Idol Season 6 runner-up, I don’t particularly like this song and I am borderline obsessed with 80s music.

I don’t know what it is but it just doesn’t sound well mixed and I think the lyrics are actually pretty bad.  I think it’s danceable but I’m not sure it’s going to inspire people to rush out and …read more

American Idol 8 Finale Red Carpet Pictures

There were so many stars on the red carpet last night for the American Idol season 8 finale that I wouldn’t even dream of trying to list them here.

Of course, there were the finalists, Kris Allen and Adam Lambert, along with the rest of the Top 13 and judges but the celebrities (and former contestants) came out in droves to see who would win the singing competition.

It looks like season four winner, Carrie Underwood, hurt her knee somehow since she’s got her “owie” all covered up with four Hello Kitty bandaids. She still managed to look absolutely …read more

American Idol Season 6: Top 12

The sixth season of American Idol brought us a fantastic Top 12.  It also brought me to this site.  I started blogging on Idol Stalker right around the time the Top 12 was announced that year so, it always brings back fond memories.

What do you remember about that year?  Was it Jordin Sparks’ winning moment?  Blake Lewis’ killer performance of “Shot Through the Heart (You Give Love a Bad Name)”?  Sanjaya’s ponyhawk?
To help jog your memory, here’s the Top 12 list from the sixth season of American Idol (dates indicate when the contestant was eliminated, year was 2007):

Blake Lewis "I Ran" – What Do You Think?

Blake Lewis "I Ran" – What Do You Think?

So, I finally got around to listening to Blake Lewis‘ cover of the 80s classic hit, “I Ran” featuring Darude.  I am a huge fan of the original (all 80s music, in fact) so I was worried about what this would sound like.
My verdict – I actuallly really like it a lot!  I don’t know if it’s because I was recently clubbing in Las Vegas and can see myself dancing to this (if I actually went clubbing in my everyday life, but I digress…).  It, of course, stays very true to the original but I like the layers of …read more

Blake Lewis on Fox This Morning – Video

American Idol season 6 runner-up, Blake Lewis, was on Fox this morning where he talked about the rumors that he was “dropped” by Arista Records.  He said that his contract expired and it wasn’t renewed but that he is with 19 Recordings, which he refers to as his “family.”  Well, I’m glad he cleared that up. Here are some pictures from the interview:

He also performed “How Many Words” and it was pretty good.  Watch it here:
