American Idol’s Blake Lewis Releasing Dance-Pop Album

July 2, 2009 by Jeanne

Yesterday, People reported that American Idol Season 6 runner-up, Blake Lewis, will be releasing a dance-pop album to follow up his 2007 effort, Audio Day Dreamblake lewis audio day dream

The new album, Heartbreak on Vinyl, is expected to be released by Tommy Boy Entertainment on October 6, 2009.  His new single “Sad Song” will make its debut on July 21, 2009.

Of the project, Blake said: “The music in the dance scene gets me out onto the dance floor to lose my inhibition.  The title is an ode to all the record stores that have been closing down due to my industry eating itself. These are the stores that brought inspiration to all of us music lovers and have led me to make the music I create today.”

I’m pretty excited about this news.  I love dance music and I think that he could do a good job.  He’s been working with producers Rodney Jerkins and Dave Aube who have had a lot of success creating music with Britney Spears, Lady Gaga and the Pussycat Dolls.

I can’t wait to hear “Sad Song.”  I could use some new music for my iPod-fuelled workouts!

American Idol 8 Finale Red Carpet Pictures

May 21, 2009 by Jeanne

There were so many stars on the red carpet last night for the American Idol season 8 finale that I wouldn’t even dream of trying to list them here.

American Idol Season 8 Finale - Arrivals

Of course, there were the finalists, Kris Allen and Adam Lambert, along with the rest of the Top 13 and judges but the celebrities (and former contestants) came out in droves to see who would win the singing competition.

It looks like season four winner, Carrie Underwood, hurt her knee somehow since she’s got her “owie” all covered up with four Hello Kitty bandaids. She still managed to look absolutely fabulous!

Blake Lewis Making Dance Album With New Label

February 18, 2009 by Jeanne

American Idol season 6 runner-up, Blake Lewis, has been signed to Tommy Boy Records and he seems really excited about it since they allowing him to make the dance record that he’s been wanting to do.  It’s great to see him video blogging!  It was his first one but he’s got a YouTube channel now!  He said that he’s going to be putting up a list of his favorite records from 2008 soon so I’m looking forward to that.

He also mentioned that he’s been working with the YMCA’s Strong Kids campaign which really warmed my heart.  While I was a student, that program allowed my kids to participate in activities and they actually started running marathons (even the 5-year-old has done three 1.6km races!).

He also asks us all to check out his Facebook profile (add him to your friends list!) which you can see here:  http://www.facebook.com/blakelewis

I’m looking forward to seeing what’s in store for Blake this year.  What about you guys?  Any Blake fans out there?

Blake Lewis "I Ran" - What Do You Think?

November 6, 2008 by Jeanne

So, I finally got around to listening to Blake Lewis‘ cover of the 80s classic hit, “I Ran” featuring Darude.  I am a huge fan of the original (all 80s music, in fact) so I was worried about what this would sound like.

My verdict - I actuallly really like it a lot!  I don’t know if it’s because I was recently clubbing in Las Vegas and can see myself dancing to this (if I actually went clubbing in my everyday life, but I digress…).  It, of course, stays very true to the original but I like the layers of modern techno-type beats.  I especially like how it changes around the 1:45 mark.  Very cool.  Listen and let me know what you think!
