Carrie Underwood Performs “Cowboy Casanova” on Ellen

American Idol winner, Carrie Underwood, was on the Ellen show earlier this week where she talked about a variety of things including her relationship with hockey player, Mike Fisher, and her new album. She looked so pretty!!!

It was amazing to listen to Ellen listing all of the awards that Carrie has won in the four short years since she won Idol. The talk show host talked to Carrie about her experience on the show to glean some insight since Ellen has been named a new judge for the upcoming season.

Syesha Mercado Beginning “Dreamgirls” Run

On November 22, 2009, former American Idol contestant, Syesha Mercado, will be embarking on a national tour of the musical, Dreamgirls.

Syesha has been cast in the role of Deena, which was brought to the big screen by Beyonce Knowles a couple years ago. Of course, Syesha’s fellow Idol alum, Jennifer Hudson, is probably most associated with the film version since she won an Oscar for her magnificent portrayal of Effie White.

Syesha was on the Wendy Williams show last week. Here’s a video of her appearance.

Matt Giraud Update – Life Since American Idol

American Idol season 8 finalist, Matt Giraud, was interviewed earlier this week about his experience since appearing on the show.

He said that he’s been enjoying a little time off since the grueling 52-date Idols Live! tour ended. He said it was great being able to actually meet the Idol fans since he was used to performing and going straight home when he was on the show. I can imagine that it was fun to see how people were truly reacting to them in real life!

Matt talked about his upcoming show, Make the Cut, which is a Michigan-based online singing competition. He was asked to be a mentor and a judge which he said is like being on the other side of his Idol experience. Of course, on a far smaller scale…

He talked about his writing and said that we can expect some bluesy music in the future.

Kellie Pickler Talks About Charity on Today Show

Former American Idol finalist, Kellie Pickler, was on the Today show where she talked about touring with her best friend, Taylor Swift, and how they wrote her hit single “Best Days of Your Life” on the tour bus after Kellie started ranting and venting about guy trouble.

Kellie also discussed her charitable work with Soles for Souls which is an organization that provides shoes to children in need. She explained that it was something that was important to her since so many diseases begin with our feet and that those who don’t have footwear can cut themselves and bacteria can enter the body and turn into something dangerous. The Today show donated a bunch of shoes from Payless Shoe Source and Kellie seemed very pleased.

She looked really beautiful and it’s amazing to see how much she’s matured since she was on Idol. Watch the interview – she’s adorable!

Kris Allen, David Cook and Adam Lambert on Good Morning America

American Idol winners, David Cook and Kris Allen, along with last season’s runner-up, Adam Lambert, were on Good Morning America yesterday morning for the Summer Concert Series. They sang together ( a cover of Fleetwood Mac’s “Little Lies”) and they sang individually.

Kelly Clarkson on Good Morning America

Kelly Clarkson was on Good Morning America a few days ago where she performed some older and new music including “Walk Away” and “Already Gone.” The crowd really went wild when Robin Roberts brought up the fact that Kelly is the original winner American Idol. I guess all those people who voted for her still love her!

Robin also mentioned Kelly’s 11 dogs and a cat (she rescues animals) and the fact that the singer goes barefoot on stage and has a fan to keep her cool (Kelly mentions that she has a perspiration problem! Ha ha!).

I really liked this revamped version of “Walk Away” but, then again, I’m a real sucker for live horns. Enjoy!

“Already Gone” also went very well. Say what you want about her but Kelly really is a great live performer.

Jordin Sparks “Battlefield” on Live With Regis and Kelly

In yet another talk show appearance to promote her new Battlefield album, Jordin Sparks performed the title track on Live With Regis and Kelly. She seems so comfortable singing this song that she’s ready to move on to the next single

She looked really good too. I didn’t like the volume control on the backup singers at first but it seems like they got it together. Talk shows never have great audio anyway.

Jordin Sparks “Battlefield” on Good Morning America

American Idol’s sixth winner, Jordin Sparks, was on Good Morning America this morning where she performed “Battlefield” and she talked about what it’s been like for her since winning the huge singing contest. She’s currently touring with the Jonas Brothers and she said that the crowds and their shows are a little more crazy than she’s been used to. I can imagine! Those JoBros fans can get really… excited! Fortunately, Jordin says it’s been a lot of fun so I’m happy to hear she’s having a good time!

Her actual performance was pretty great! I loved what she was wearing and her voice has really matured since her time on the show! Good for her!

Allison Iraheta Sings “Barracuda” on the Tonight Show

I know this was a few days ago but I found a video of Allison Iraheta performing “Barracuda” on The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien. She replaced American Idol winner, Kris Allen, who had to bow out of the appearance after a death in his family.

I’m a big fan of Heart so I’ve always loved “Barracuda” and I don’t know if anyone can sing it quite like they did but I think Allison does a great job. She was already pretty great while she was on Idol but I feel like her vocals have matured even more since then.

Daughtry on Tonight Show With Conan O’Brien

Daughtry was on The Tonight Show With Conan O’Brien last night where they performed “No Surprise” and I have to say that I really liked it (although the backup vocals were a little shady…). I wasn’t completely sold on this song when I first heard it but it has really grown on me.

I know that everyone has said this about a million times (myself included), but I’m so happy for Chris Daughtry for taking his exposure on American Idol and using it to his advantage. He’s so talented and he really is an example of someone who had everything it took to be successful but just needed a “big break.”
