I can’t believe that American Idol kicks off season nine next week, it feels like it’s been a long wait. I think part of the problem for me is the fact that Canadian Idol hasn’t been on for a couple of years, and that show used to fill up the gap for me in between seasons.
Still, the new season is right around the corner and soon we’ll all be picking our favorite Idol contenders and for those of you who are American, frenzied voting will begin a few weeks later.

If you were a fan of American Idol, season 8 you’ll be happy to know you can catch some of them performing for New Year’s Eve to ring in 2010.

Although Adam Lambert got booted from his original NYE line-up he’s been snatched back up again. He’ll be performing at the Gridlock New Year’s Eve party in the Paramount backlot. It’s unfortunate that the show isn’t being televised but this IS the Internet so hopefully there will be photos and more importantly, video of his performance from fans on YouTube.

On Friday, December 11th, Madison Square Garden was turned into one festive setting for the Z100 Jingle Ball and among the performers who sang for the crowds was American Idol winner Kris Allen.
Kris sang three songs for the audience – “Can’t Stay Away”, “Heartless/Gangsta’s Paradise” (which I still consider one of his most pivotal moments on Idol), and his current single “Live Like We’re Dying”.
It’s unfortunate that the videos are a bit on the shaky and blurry side but there’s still no denying that Kris did a great job and had the crowd screaming for him.

Last night (Wednesday, December 9th), Kris Allen was a guest performer on So You Think You Can Dance. Although it’s a dance competition, they regularly feature musical guests and naturally an American Idol winner with a hot single and new album is perfect for their second to last show.
Kris performed “Live Like We’re Dying” and I think he did an excellent job. He always comes across as completely comfortable with being on stage, like he can’t imagine anything that would make him happier than singing for an audience.

The hit dance show So You Think You Can Dance will be showcasing two American Idol contestants this season.

On December 9th winner Kris Allen will perform his current single “Live Like We’re Dying”, while runner-up Adam Lambert will appear on the season finale to sing “Whataya Want From Me”.
In related news, Kris will also at Billboard’s New Year’s Eve Live special on December 31st. At this time Adam still doesn’t have a New Year’s Eve gig lined up after being removed from the lineup for Dick Clark’s Rocking New Year’s Eve special which airs on ABC.

Have you seen the official music video for Kris Allen’s single “Live Like We’re Dying” yet?  I really like the song and I think the video was a little cooler than I was expecting.  It clearly wasn’t super high budget or anything but I thought the countdown clock in the back was a nice touch.

American Idol season 8 winner, Kris Allen , has revealed the cover art for his upcoming self-titled album and I’d love to know what you think of it.  Honestly, I know a lot of people think Kris is hot so I don’t understand why this almost looks cartoonish. Why all the photoshop?
Anyway, I’m looking forward to hearing what the finished product sounds like.  The album is expected to be released on November 17, 2009.

Singer and songwriter, Mat Kearney has recently said that he’s happy to be working with American Idol winner, Kris Allen, saying that he’s “the real deal.”
Kearney told MTV News that they joined together in August actually made some great music. He reveals, "We wrote a song and it’s awesome." On how the two started working together, "I think [Kris] was just a fan. What he told me was that he was just picking bands that he liked [to collaborate with].”

When I first heard about this song, I have to admit that I got it confused with the Tim McGraw hit “Live Like You Were Dying” but after hearing Kris Allen’s new single “Live Like We’re Dying” it’s clear that these songs are nothing alike.
