Chris Already Getting Offers
May 12, 2006 by Jason
This article states that Chris Daughtry was contacted in the past by the group Fuel, to be their new frontman. Seems like after he performed their song, “Hemorrhage”, their song shot up to the Top 10 Download list on iTunes and the band contacted him at that point.
Guess discussions never really went anywhere. I’m sure the Idol producers wouldn’t let much action take place with Chris actively on the show. However, since Chris was suprisingly voted off on Tuesday night, Fuel’s bassist, Jeff Abercrombie stated the following on the TV show “Extra”.
‘Chris, if you are watching, we`ve talked about this before, and if you want to entertain it again we`ll take it and go,’ Abercrombie said.
I think this is a great opportunity for Chris if he’s interested. However, I’ve had a friend that tried out for Idol and she said you wouldn’t believe the contractual agreements you have to commit to if you make it to even be a finalist. The producers basically have control over any career you have in the industry until they release you from the contract. Looks like this will be an interesting American Idol sub-plot to keep up with.
Thanks Ben for the heads-up.
