I think Chris is right - especially this year.

Why? Well look at the top 12 - each of them has had prior experience. Some of them even had prior recording contracts! Some - for example, Ms. Smithson aka Ms. Hennesey recorded for MCA records when Randy Jackson worked there. MCA spent a few million promoting her only to have her sell under 500 albums!

SAme for others - they are all plants - so much for discovering hidden talent from america. Now it's for promoting talent that failed.

Why are they doing this? Look at some of the past American idols - their record labels are dropping them left and right. Jordin Sparks can't even sell a million records. Blake Lewis didn't even sell 500K records. None of the idols or near idols are doing well. Only Carrie and Chris are doing well.

So this year they came up with a new gameplan. They said they'd try something new right? Well, they decided on getting accomplished singers from around the country and give them the visibility they needed on AI to do well. So you may have had thousands and thousands of people trying out for American Idol this past Summer - but the Producers had their plan in place all along.

Their top 12 would all have prior experience singing in bands, recording albums - and the like. Don't believe me - check it out. Carly did a record, David Cook did a record, David Ar. did a record, Brooke did a record, Michael Lee (john) did a record, Kristy did a record -

So much for undiscovered talent.

The way they're going they'll be having an American Idol Reunion for all the failed American Idols for their 10th Anniversary Season - remember you heard it from me first.

Apparently Chris said he was quoted out of context and RollingStone printed a word for word transcript which is actually a lot more damning for Chris.

Since I don't know how to make a live link, here is a shorter version of the link to RollingStone http://tinyurl.com/28uqls

Chris doesn't really know who will be competing on season 7. It could be a great year. We will have to see who comes out of this season. My fav is Elliott Yamin so I am glad that American Idol brought a great talent for me to enjoy. I doubt if there is any Elliott Yamins out there but there could be another unique talent that could blow us all away. It is true the bar is set high for that to happen.

Heh, Let's review - Chris thought that AI was too cheesy before he was on and it has gone down hill since he has been on - so the only year you can watch and enjoy would be the year he was on?

I am sure a lot of amatuers, semi amatuers, quasi professionals and complete professionals want to be on the show for exposure. Certainly a lot of advertisers want to be on board since they raised the already outrageous rates to the highest except for the super bowl.

I think Nigel said it best, even at half the ratings, the show would still be the highest rated show on the air.

I think a lot of people were shocked when Chris was voted off that year, but I don't think its a good idea to diss American Idol for any alumni. After all it did give them their start into the big times. If you're really talented you'll be picked up by somebody that's seen you on AI, especially if you've made it to the top 10.
I think it was the shock that most people felt when Chris was voted off that catipolted him to fame.

I actually agree too, but American Idol has became way more then a Singing Competition, people are getting by because of ethic groups and other reasons.. look at Sanjaya, he had so many Indian people voting for him it wasn't funny, I read many articles on how he stayed on the show so long, and the good people such as Melinda, Jordin, Blake and others had to fight to stay in it when to put it bluntly he SUCKED.. I don't think it's completely right..
