Clay Aiken Admits: "Yes, I’m Gay"

September 23, 2008 by Jeanne

Clay Aiken Signs

American Idol star, Clay Aiken, has admitted to being gay to People magazine.  I saw the article on the Huffington Post and I have to tell you what my first reaction was – “thank goodness.”  I have always suspected he was gay and have been totally fine with it but I’ve always wished he would be able to just admit who he was and live a full and complete life.  I’m also touched that his inspiration for the admission was his newborn son, Parker (who he is cradling on the cover of the magazine), since he said that he doesn’t think he should raise a child to “lie or hide things.”  I could not agree more.

Well, what do you guys think?!

Even though I didn’t believe he was gay it makes no difference to me. I will always be a fan and I think he is a wonderful talent. He will always have my support without question.
He stole my heart from the first time he sang on AI.

First of all, congratulations to Clay and to Jaymes on the birth of Parker. He is so darn cute!

Gay or straight, it is none of my business and knowing does not change my opinion of Clay at all. I love his spirit, his voice, that ever present smile and the public person he is. When he’s not being a total goof (LOL) he is such a class act. May he find the peace and happiness in his private life that he so rightly deserves.

I’m proud of him. It must have taken a lot of nerve. I’ll always be a fan. Besides he’s still hawt, gay or straight…lol

  6. kayzee says:

I have loved and supported him since day one, and will continue to do so throughout his hopefully long career.

It was no one’s business in the first place, which is why Clay felt he was not obligated to discuss it. People in this country are so obsessed with someone else’ sexuality, it is unbelievable! We are so backwards when compared to the European countries.

That said, I am very, very happy for Clay because he is happy and I applaud both him and Jaymes for the wonderful loving friendship and relationship they have (it does not need to be romantic to be loving and successful) and their commitment to raise their son together.

Bravo Clay! And you are still the BEST vocalist to come out of AI. I will continue to purchase your albums and attend your concerts!
