Clay Aiken Ends Run in Spamalot

by Jeanne on May 5th, 2008

Sadly, American Idol star, Clay Aiken, has completed his turn as Sir Robin in Spamalot on Broadway.  I didn’t get to see it but so many of you have written to me to tell me how good he was.  In honor of his time in the musical, here’s a "Farewell to Sir Robin" video:

Clay Aiken did an ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL job in his role as Sir Robin and his other parts in “Spamalot”, his broadway debut. He is TRULY an all around GREAT ENTERTAINER and I am sure this is just a stepping stone in his career. Looking forward to his new cd dropping on May 6th., the most BEAUTIFUL VOICE to be heard in the longest time.

Ahhh, that brought tears to my eyes. Wish I could have been there. I heard they put him on the roof of the Shubert Theater to say his good-byes to Broadway and all the fans in the street. Great job, Mr. Aiken. We are very proud of you.

He was wonderful but he won’t be missing for long. Tomorrow he’ll be at Virgin records NYC signing his new CD, then Wednesday GMA, Thurs. The View. You go Clay!

What can I say,Clay’s the best thing to come out of AI bar none. The broadway community has recognized his worth too bad the music community doesn’t wake up and do the same.

The last show was amazing, everyone on stage got some love and the chorus girls could not seem to keep their hands off Clay. Every performer was so on and Clay was on fire. I don’t know how they got the show done on time because there was so much added to the show, so many pregnant pauses, so much applause.

I don’t think I was ever at a show where even the chorus players got a standing ovation and they LOVED it.

After the show, I was outside with the milling shoulder to shoulder crowd running into a lot of people I knew and looked up to see Clay waving to people from above the marquee. Now that is a fun video.
