Clay Aiken Performs At Neil Sedaka Tribute

by Jeanne on October 28th, 2007

Very nice! A Clay Aiken fan sent me this video of him performing “Solitaire” at the Neil Sedaka tribute. Clay sang well (of course) and it looks like he is slimming out again.

I was there!!! Clay shook the rafters! Only 3 people got standing ovations that night- Connie Francis; Neil, of course, and CLAY!!!! None of the other legends did!!!!! Clay was absolutely incredible. Just wish he came back at the end for the final bow!!

This was truly an outstanding performance by Clay at this tribute to Neil Sedaka Friday night.

It is really hard to imagine this man’s voice getting better and yet since we first heard him over four years ago both he and his voice have matured! He can literally sing circles around just about anyone in the industry today and from reaction this New York crowd gave at the end it appears they think so too!

This performance was absolutely brilliant and Clay really did honor Neil with this performance.

No one can match Clay Aiken for power, range and tone. He is perfection, and his fan base is enormous at this point!

He’s pretty darn good looking too!!

Totally blew the roof off. Also one of only 2 besides Neil himself to get a total standing ovation. His voice is just amazing, and this song that Neil “gave” to Clay back on AI is one of the greatest songs ever written. Clay has the perfect voice for it. Truly amazing what that combination brough out in song.

I’m from Venezuela… I wish I could be in the US just to go to one of Clay’s shows and watch him perform. It would be worth every dollar. I love him so much. WHAT AN AMAZING VOICE!

Clay has a very powerful voice..but The Carpenters own this song.

Clara-funny, that’s not what the very writer of the song, Neil Sedaka, thinks anymore!! “This will always be a ‘Clay Aiken song’-Neil on AI2 during guest judge week. Besides, Clay is the ONLY performer of this song to do the huge glory note; not even Elvis (or Karen) does a glory note on ‘Solitaire’. The arrangement was changed for Clay’s glorious voice.

That’s quite alright if Neil Sedaka or anyone else, for that matter, likes Clay’s version. I was giving MY opinion, and no one elses. IMO that song doesnt require a “glory” note. I say The Carpenters own that song, and always will.
