Two of American Idol 7’s eliminated contestants, Danny Noriega and Asia’h Epperson, were on Fox this morning to talk about being kicked off of the show. Wahhhh, I’m so sad!
They talked about the possible reasons why they were eliminated. Why do you think these two got the boot?

Because they were (esp. Danny) getting in the way of the chosen one David A. There’s no way Danny got less votes than Chikeze.

There were no surprises but that’s good. I want the top 12 to be the best 12. Now is when it gets fun.
We wait until the 12 and play a game where you have to predict the final 2 over the next couple weeks. It sounds easy but it’s hard. It was pretty hard last year too. There’s a website that actually tracks it so we’re not bothered by managing everyone’s picks. We just created an office pool which is free. The site also offers an open game to the general public where anyone can just join. Dang, I sound like a commercial ; ) Anyway, check it out. It makes watching more fun.

The reason Danny Noriega was taken off (notice I said “taken” off instead of “voted” off) was because Nigel and the other Producers of AI didn’t want another Sanjaya on their hands, plus it ruined their selling advertising.
Face it, Danny brought entertainment to the show! His verbal and physical interactions with Simon, Paula and Randy are going to be legendary - especially the “hand to the head wave”, that was one of the funniest things to happen on AI in 6 seasons. Even Randy and Paula got into it.
The Producers also didn’t want an openly flamboyant gay on the show. Why? Remember that television shows are about selling Advertising. And selling advertising is all about demographics. And demographics is about what groups are watching the show.
Having a flamboyant gay on the show did not go well with conservative middle America. The Producers could not afford to lose that entire demographic.
And remember that Chickezie was the only African American Male to make it into the top 12 men this year. For Demographic reasons again - he had to make it into the final 12.
If you all remember when Ryan had both Danny and Chickezie in center stage and was talking to them, and Ryan finally mentioned Chickezie’s name - did you all see the look on Chickezie’s face?? He was resigned to being the guy being sent home. I noticed it, so I’m sure you all noticed it too.
One other thing - with the news coming out last week about David Hernandez’s past - I thought for sure they would kick him off AI; I think most people did. BUT think about it; if the Producers planned on kicking Danny Noriega off, how would it look to the American Public if they knocked off both Gay men from being in the final 12??
Not too good, right? If they did send both David H. and Danny N. home last week, the Gay Community (and others) would have been screaming discrimination. I think that’s the main reason that they didn’t send David Hernandez packing because of his prior escapades.
You also have to remember that you would never think that David Hernandez is Gay by looking at him. Why? He’s handsome and not stereotypically effeminate (like most mid-American thinks Gays are).
David also has a semi-professional background (what AI wants this year); he sang with a group called the Vinyl Four. He was with them for 2 years performing on Cruise Ships.
So Danny had a lot of things against him this time. I don’t think the producers had any intentions of putting him in the final 12. The producers only wanted those contestants who had professional/semi-professional backgrounds as finalists.
Why? MONEY! Look at the AI Winners and runners up in the past. Last year Jordin Sparks debut album only sold a little over 425,00 records - not even Gold! Blake Lewis’s only sold about 244,000 records. Taylor Hicks debut album only sold 699,000 and he was just dropped from his record label. Catherine McPhee’s debut album didn’t do that well and she was just dropped from her record album.
So the folks at AI promised us this would be a totally different season with contestants with tremendous talent. Perhaps the best Season yet. That’s why all the Pros and Semi-pros in the top-12. That’s why they didn’t want Danny too. He had no experience. None.
So even though Danny was OUR favorite, he wasn’t the producers and had to go.
Danny we love you - Get a Great Vocal Coach and they’ll teach you to be a Fantastic singer!

Brynn, David A is not the chosen one. It’s not like it was a fix that he became a part of this show. He worked at it. He earned it and maybe he will win. I’d say at worse he will finish 3rd. But he is definately not the chosen one. He is a front runner and talented individual. Good luck, Archie!

Er… Kay — have you done your research? He, along with Carly had connections. I’m not saying he isn’t working for the title, but he most certainly APPEARS to be the chosen one and that I don’t think anyone can argue with.

I don’t know how set in stone it is, or how honest it is, how contestants get removed from the show. It’s always interesting to see other people’s ideas.
I just hope that Danny N gets an opportunity to put himself out there full-force, because he’s great to watch, very entertaining.
Asia’h was cool also - and any girl that’s cool enough to start dancing to Danny’s imitation of The Alien is VERY Cool!

Too many of these folks had connections and prior records contracts and albums. But you have to remember than in earlier seasons, some of the contestants also had prior recording contracts and albums, or musical stage experience.
The one that I laughed the most about when I found out - Ms Kelly Pickler.
Remember how dumb she acted on the show?? Well, I think that was an “act”, for she had a prior recording contract and record album out there…..
How could you be dumb if you had that?

The moment they said Danny was out, I realize that wasn’t the voting result (well, personally I don’t believe that Danny got less vote than chekezie). They just want him out. So sad that there are still a lot of people who can not accept the diversity and can not appreciate real talent.

May I ask where’d you hear that info?
Is it on a website somewhere?
I’m asking because so many of my predictions have come true this year - the only one that didn’t was when the Aussie Bopper was bopped off this past week.
Oh - I call him the “bopper” because when he sings he bopps his head up and down, down and up. Watch tapes of him - you’ll see - I thought it was hilarious - just like a kangaroo hopping along.
Anyway, the latest info is that Danny and Ramiele will be sharing an apartment when Ramiele finishes the Idol Tour this summer. At that time she’ll have oodles of money in her bank account and she and Danny will have lots of fun.
