David Cook at "Taste for a Cure" Event
June 23, 2008 by Jeanne
Newly crowned American Idol winner, David Cook, performed at the 2008 “Taste for a Cure” event at the Beverly Wiltshire Hotel on Saturday night. This is the event’s 13th year in operation and is the signature annual fundraiser for UCLA’s Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center. On the official website, it says that “Taste for a Cure” has raised $5.5 million for cancer research since 1996.
I’m really happy (and impressed!) to see David already out there doing charitable events while so many celebrities are so focused on themselves. I like him more and more by the day.
Here are some more pictures from the event, including one with late-night talk show host, Jimmy Kimmel (click to enlarge). What is that on David’s pant leg?

Go David! You are right Jeanne there are so many privilaged stars out there that only care about themselves and don’t have any regard for anyone else around them. It’s sad but the way of the world I guess. But I’m proud of David.
David you are a wonderful ambassadore for the ACS! Keep up the good work.

Even though everyone loves Fox, there has been a rash of media trolling on the internet about this David Cook and the sessions musicians legal action against the show. I’m not a fan of the show and I support real professional musicians who’ve tried to get to where they are today and I know I’m not the only one, and I feel the shows producers shouldn’t fight that sentiment. Unfortunately, AI airs on Americas favorite television network, Fox, so we have to mix the two.
I used to love David Cook and then when he won, he sort of got complacent and bored or something. I guess the arrogant comments I read through March and April started to show for me, too. I saw him on the View this morning and he seemed freaking bored. It’s over, my love affair. Now what to do with $500 worth of AI concert tickets?
Honestly I know that this is something that he ahs always felt strongly about. He said when he won AI that this was one of the reasons he was glad he won so that he could bring more awareness to Cancer research and that is exactly what he is doing I still love David Cook even if he is bored with the celebrity life already that just means he is a real person not fake
