Entertainment Weekly Says Kellie Pickler Should Stop Playing Dumb
Entertainment Weekly is suggesting that American Idol finalist, Kellie Pickler, and Sherri Shepherd of The View are pretending to be unintelligent in order to get attention. Kellie’s recent appearance on Are You Smarter Than a fth Grader along with her behavior on Idol have made her a target for "dumb blonde" jokes for months (the 5th Grader appearance where she said that she thought Europe was a country just gave it all new life).
Sherri Shepherd is being targeted for saying that she believes the earth is flat and that Christians predate all things, including the Greek civilization.
The author of the EW article rants for quite a bit about these two and then points out that Jeff Foxworthy was, in their opinion, quite condescending to Kellie on 5th Grader. Here’s an excerpt:
"… don’t kid yourself that Fifth Grader host Jeff Foxworthy’s condescending banter (Jeff: “Kellie, focus.” Kellie: “I’m listening to what you’re saying, but I only hear what I want to.” Jeff: “That’s just called being a woman.”) during the pitiful Pickler performance was merely harmless filler. Misogyny is a bitch, people, and it pops up wherever it’s welcome!
What do you think? Is it an act?

From waht I have heard, Kellie Pickler is not acting. However, she does have street smarts, and that helps a lot. She managed to untangle her self from rumors with Constatine Mauralis pretty quickly and easily.
I guess they should accept that she does nto care about book learning (except math if she is really street smart, got to manage that income!),

I do think it is mostly an act. Unfortunately, as long as it keeps working, she will keep it up.
I like Kellie a lot and wish that she could change her persona, because she could be cute and perky without being ridiculous. Her obvious plastic surgery is just another attempt to show herself as a dumb blond.

nah,I do think she does have some educational book smarts issues. The people who watched her at 5th grader said it took a lot of editing to make her look that good.

I’m posting from Belgium [for the ‘dumb blonds’: that’s in Europe, between London, Amsterdam and Paris :-) ] but we obviously have our localized versions of “Belgian Idol” and “5th grader”.
Whether or not Kellie Pickler is intellectually challenged really doesn’t matter: the networks air these shows because we all want to laugh at dumb people, be it real or an act.
It sells advertising for Fox, and our “disaster tourism” TV habits create a market for bimbos, fake or not.
However, I did like her voice, but we should all stop degrading ourselves by watching trash-tv.
The bimbos would disappear along with this kind of “TV for the retarded”.
Just my 2 cents.

well.. it’s easier to act dumb than to act bright. i don’t think kellie’s that stupid… just a little ignorant. however, i think she is overdoing and exxagerating it because she becomes “cute and sweet” in the public’s eyes
