Episode #531 (Live Blogging): Round 2 - Katharine McPhee “Can’t Help Falling in Love”

Let’s see if Katharine can pull out a strong performance. I definitely would hate to see her go home tomorrow night, but we’ll see. She’s really going to need to turn things around now I think. Everybody’s second song has been very strong and I people are going to vote on 2nd song performances, so this will be important. Katharine is going to be singing “Can’t Help Falling in Love”, this could be the song she needs to pull it out.

Wow! She’s just got amazing vocal control when she’s not trying to belt out the lyrics or a specific note. The music is a little overpowing her performance and drowning out her vocals. Some areas are still sounding a little weak, she’s trying to force out the song. It’s just not working. Let’s see what the judges say.

Randy: Better than the 1st song, ran out of air and some pitch problems.

Paula: Seems to have liked the 1st song better. Liked her dancing.

Simon: Not one of her best nights. The song started out well, and then fell off. [Is it spooky, how I’m agreeing so much with Simon?]

I think Katharine is really at risk tonight. I believe Chris and Taylor are definitely in the top 2, with Elliott in 3rd and Katharine is going home I’m afraid. The good news is, I don’t think it matters too much. She’s still going to have an album deal and get out there to her wonderful fans.

The producers and owners of this show are going to win big with this season. I think these Top 4 contestants will all have very successful albums on the charts. More money for everyone.
