Episode #531 (Live Blogging): Round 2 - Taylor Hicks “In the Ghetto”
I’ve never heard of this song by Elvis, or at least not that I can remember. Tommy says this performance was “very impressive”. Let the audience feel the song from the heart, and not for the display. Hopefully Simon will agree.
The song is definitely highlighting the fact that Taylor really does have a great singing voice. [Hey, I remember hearing this song now.] Sounds like there’s some weird sound stuff going on, the mic seems to be picking up a lot of breathing sounds. Taylor is really nailing the mood and feeling of this song. Didn’t oversing anything, just nice, smooth vocals.
Randy: Right key, right song, make this kind of record. Randy liked it.
Paula: Performance shows a whole different side, he’s well rounded.
Simon: World apart from the first performance. He’s just sung his way into the semi-finals of the competition.
I agree, great performance. This man definitely has a professional career ahead of him. Go SOUL PATROL!
