Has Nigel Lythgoe Left American Idol?

TMZ is reporting that executive producer, Nigel Lythgoe, has left American Idol because he is “not passionate about it anymore.” “ Of course, this comes from a “source” and not from Lythgoe himself so I don’t know if it’s really true. I can’t blame him, though. He has been a part of that show for seven years. I wonder, if he really leaves, if anything will be different?
Apparently, he wants to spend more time on So You Think You Can Dance. Do you guys watch that show? I love it! Nothing has been as good to me as the season when Benji Schwimmer won but I still really, really like it!

I LOVE the show. I agree it hasn’t been quite as good as the first year with Benji but this years finalists are pretty amazing, especailly Joshua and Twitch. Actually all 4 are great.
TMZ reported again about the story, saying Nigel sent them a statement that said he was stepping back from his day-to-day producing work on Idol to spend more time on SYTYCD and work on something with Simon Fuller. Step back from “day-to-day” producing? Sounds like he’ll still be involved.
