Rain Doesn’t Stop Hedley at Stampede

Hedley at the Calgary Stampede (7)

*sigh* Anytime I wonder if Canadian Idol has real merit, I think of Jacob Hoggard and his success as the frontman of Hedley.  I cannot even tell you how much I love him as a performer and even as just a really cool person.  A couple months ago, when I was covering the 2008 Juno Awards, there was a full weekend of events and whenever I saw him (and, of course, the whole awesome band!), they were just really cool (see pics from the Fan Fare event here!).

Last night, I headed over to the Coca-Cola stage at the Calgary Stampede and, after I found a good spot, the lightning started.  Just before the band took the stage, it started to pour.  Unfortunately, I didn’t have any protective gear for my camera (give me a break – I live in Canada’s sunniest city!) so the pictures I ended up getting were from far away, through the windows of a warm, dry building.

All the same, Hedley’s performance was amazing!  They didn’t care about the rain and their energy made everyone else forget how drenched they were.

you know what made that concert really awesome…when they sang Never Too Late, they said we’re gonna pretend we’re in a place where its warm and happy and fun or something like that and it stopped raining halfway through that song! it was amazing.
