by Jeanne on September 19th, 2007

It’s a three-way Idol Face Off today. American Idol contestants, Sanjaya Malakar and Diana DeGarmo along with Australian Idol’s, Hayley Jensen sang “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough.”

I wanted to include Canadian Idol’s Eva Avila but I couldn’t find a good video. If you have one other than that 5 minute one on YouTube please send it to me for a later poll.

Who’s mountain is high enough?

13 opinions for Idol Face Off - Ain’t No Mountain High Enough

That was a fun one! :)

Sanjaya - it was not as bad as I rembered. Sanjay’s not a bad singer, he just need to have more confidence in his voice, work on its volume a bit. But on this song, yeah, he’s definetely in third place.

Haley - Wow, she’s a great singer! I really like her tone. She makes singing seem so easy… to the point of being a bit boring, in my opinion.

Diana - Of the three - best stage presence, and her vocals really suited the song compared to the other two. She had that little bit of grit, of soul in there that worked with the song.

    Diana won!

I voted for Haley here, though I agree with Bouffe that she was a bit boring. A nice voice though.

Diana definitely had the best stage presence, but she was craaaaaaazy pitchy on this one, and I didn’t like her tone. Too bad, I usually like her.

There’s no way Diana should be winning this poll.
She sounded horrible! Sanjaya sounded better than she did and I can’t stand him. I vote for Hayley. :-)

Diana Degarmo clearly has been the best of the people so far who have sang Ain’t No Mountain High Enough on American Idol. With her performance of this song, she advanced to the American Idol finale. She is the youngest person ever to compete in an American Idol finale.

To update to today, Diana Degarmo just recently starred in the CMT hit show Gone Country. This tv series was the highest rated tv series in CMT’s 25 year tv history. Diana has recently signed with Grammy Award winner John Rich’s production company and he is producing her new album.

Diana Degarmo will be on AMerican Idol Extra on Thursday, May 1, 2008 on Fox Reality Channel. She will perform her new single Right Back Where We Ended.

On April 12, 2008, Diana DeGarmo appeared at Dollywood and met Dolly Parton. There is a possibility of Diana Degarmo recording a Dolly Parton song for her forthcoming country album.

For new information on Diana Degarmo go to http://www.dianadegarmo.com

Her my space page also has current information.

Diana DeGarmo was interviewed by OK Magazine on April 21, 2008.

    The interview is below:

When she was growing up in Alabama, Diana DeGarmo told her mom that she never wanted to live outside of the South. And now, after a spell in New York and traveling the country, she says her little-girl instincts were right.

The American Idol runner-up says Broadway was a blast, but she couldn’t be happier with her new life in Nashville.

After finishing second to Fantasia Barrino in season three, Diana recorded an album in 2004, starred in Hairspray on Broadway and toured with Brooklyn: The Musical in 2007.

But just before getting down to recording an R’n’B/pop record late last year, the 20-year-old went to Nashville to appear on another reality show, Gone Country.

Diana says she felt “the buzz” there in Music City.

Anyway, she says, Nashville is the natural home for an Idol veteran. “American Idol brings out the all-American public, and all-American people love country music. It’s a no-brainer.”

Now Diana, who goes into the studio in the next fews days to record her new album, has a house in Nashville, as well as a home on 13-acres of Tennessee country just outside the city.

“I always told my mom if I didn’t live in Atlanta, I’d live in Nashville and here I am,” she said.

“I said I’d never live outside the South, and I lived in New York for a little while, but I’m glad to be back here.

“Nashville is a great town. It’s a wonderful community.”

She said that with all the great work offers that have fallen into her lap after Idol, “I couldn’t be happier — things are really good.” But, she added, “You never know when I just might pop back up on Broadway.”

Right now Diana says she loves to walk her “weenie dogs”, Dixie and Rosie, hang out at the Nascar track with Bo Bice and sing with her friends at the Buck Wild karaoke bar.

She can’t wait to celebrate her 21st birthday with her buddies in Vegas this summer, and their vacation to the Dollywood themepark, where Diana worked as a singer when she was ten.

With all that, Diana says, there’s one thing that definitely isn’t missing from her life: a boyfriend.

“I’m too young to settle down and I’m having way too much fun to settle down with one person right now.

“I’m having fun being a single, young girl in a big town.”

As for this years Idol, Diana says she hasn’t been watching enough to have a favorite (five years on, she’s only just able to hear to the theme music without getting a sudden burst of stage-nerves!).

But she thinks David Cook has a Daughtry-factor that should carry him a long way, and she admits to a soft-spot for David Archuleta, who, at 17, is a year older than she was on Idol.

“David Archuleta is holding it down for the young kids this season. He’s so, so talented and he’s adorable and he’s got an amazing voice. I think it’s a no-brainer that he’s going to get far.”

Great news!!!! Diana DeGarmo has started recording her country album in Nashville. She has recorded a couple of songs that were written by John Rich and Gretchen Wilson.

Diana Degarmo atended a function at Dollywood and got to meet Dolly Parton. Diana Degarmo and Dolly Parton are coordinating schedules to possibly collaborate on a song for Diana’s album.

Diana Degarmo and Shanna Crooks are also coordinating schedules to work with Trevor Rosen on another song for Diana’s album.

It will be great when the album is finally released.

Would love to see Diana Degarmo record a duet with James Otto. This would be great Diana Degarmo and James Otto appeared together at a charity event in Nashville with Danielle Peck. They both are produced by John Rich.

Diana Degarmo has sure had a great 2008. In January, she appeared in the CMT show Gone Country with Julio Iglesias, Jr, Bobby Brown, Maureen McCormick and Carnie Wilson. The show was very funny.

After the show wrapped production, Diana DeGarmo moved to Nashville. She is working on a country/pop album. She has been signed to John Rich’s production company.

The cast of Gone Country introduced Kenny Chesney at the CMT Music Awards show. Diana Degarmo, Bobby Brown, Maureen McCormick, Siscqo and John Rich were sure funny in their introduction of Kenny.

Hayley all the way. WELL actually she sounded the best, but she didn’t add her own BAM to it! Lol but Sanjya sounded whiney. Diana is OK, but something sounded off throughout the whole performance.

    HAYLEY HAS MY VOTE!! ☺
