I’m sorry, but I love and adore Theresa Sokyrka, so she gets my vote.

That said, I don’t want to hijack the thread but if you get the chance, check out this week’s Australian Idol. It’s Acoustic night and it features one of the gutsiest, best performances I’ve ever seen on any Idol show (Australian Idol is where I usually find these sorts of things - just look at Anthony Callea’s “The Prayer” from season 2, which is, in my opinion, the greatest performance on any Idol stage in the history of the series). If Ben McKenzie doesn’t win this thing, I’ll be more shocked than I was when Jacob Hoggard got voted off (of course, I only found out later that he asked his fans not to vote for him). BUT I DIGRESS…

Theresa Sokyrka was one of the bright spots of one of the best Idol seasons of any country, if not the best. And next to “Good Mother,” this is up there with “Cruisin’” as her best performance, for me. I don’t know why, but I just never cared for Fantasia. Her performance was the highlight of season 3, however. But I just like Theresa better.

whenever that song is brought up in AI the most memorable performace of that song is ALWAYS attached to Fantasia.

Fantasia killed it with not only the performace aspect but as well as emotionally. The emotion you felt from her singing that song is forever embedded in the minds of everyone who saw that performance that night. Even more so that she was nominated for a grammy for that song.

    No questions….FANTASIA!

I liked Theresa Sokyrka versions, breezy and jazzy-very good. Does she have an album out? Jazz?

I don’t like Fantasia, don’t know why, but can’t deny her talent-she killed on that song so she gets my vote. I went and watched some clips of Fantasia on Broadway because Clay Aiken bragged so much on her performance after he went to see it and I must say I might have to change my mind about her-she gave me chills.

Fantasia….hands down. Why do everybody have to be compared to Fantasia? I really want to know the answer to that one!!!!! Fantasia has set the bar really high, so why compare her talent to other people???? Get off of Fantasia and try comparing other Idols against each other.

Although Fantasia’s performance was great, it was a bit too theatrical and over the top for my taste. Would have been a superb Broadway performance.

I vote for Theresa’s version as she took a risk to do it in an untraditional style which showcased her ability to sing and make it her own. She has now moved away from the jazz format and is more of an indie/pop singer. Her last CD, Something Expected, is really excellent!

Fantasia is good but she doesnt have “the package”plus at some point her voice just become irritating.. not to talk about her looks ;P
