Idol Face Off – Waiting on the World to Change

October 15, 2007 by Jeanne

I really love John Mayer so it’s hard for me to hear anyone cover his songs but here I am, presenting to Idol contestants singing his big song from this past year. Listen to Dean Geyer (Australian Idol) and Sanjaya Malakar (American Idol) singing “Waiting on the World to Change.”

Who changed the world with their rendition?

Dean Geyer

Sanjaya Malakar

I hated both of those silly performances. Dean made it sound way to…cheery? I can’t find the right word for it, but with a song like that, at least try to look serious or mournful…something!

I don’t even have to say anything about Sanjaya’s performance.

Dean was miles ahead of Sanji…. That being said, Greg Neufeld sings that song in a very beautiful way. His voice is very reminiscent of Mayer’s and has such, I feel Greg’s rendition is far superior to any others but Mayer’s. :)
