Idol Stalker’s International Idol Day!

Today is International Idol Day here on Idol Stalker. I got a lot of positive response and some emails/comments about Kalan Porter (bottom right of Canadian Idol) getting his own day but I didn’t receive any pictures or stories. Please send stuff in!
Anyway, I’m going to put up some of my favorite performances – one from this season of Nouvelle Star (France’s version) featuring winner, Julien Doré, another from season 2 of Canadian Idol featuring Kalan Porter and a third from the current season of Australian Idol featuring contestant Ben McKenzie.

I am such a fan of Kalan. After the hiatus he had due to his Mom’s illness he is finally back on tour with a new DVd and hit single.

I, for one, would like to nominate Jacob Hoggard for his own day. Dude was seriously one of the best contestants on any Idol show ever. He did things you’d NEVER see on another Idol show because the contestants would be afraid of taking those kinds of risks. Seriously, dude was fearless.
But, barring a Jacob day, I’d love to kind of have a day where we celebrate the best performances of a given season. Like, tomorrow could be American Idol Season 1 Day or Canadian Idol Season 3 Day, where we post the best performances and catch up with some of the contestants. Hell, you could even have it last the whole week, so that you don’t have to take away someone else’s day.
Regardless, way too many suggestions swirling around in my head right now. I’m gonna go make myself a sandwich and watch the Idol face-off for today.

Thank you for including Kalan’s “Nature Boy”…. definitely one of his best performances. If you ever do have a Kalan day, I imagine it would be difficult to narrow down which clips to include! His performance of “House of the Rising Sun” was another highlight for me. I agree with the Jacob Hoggard shoutout as well. Maybe you should consider highlighting the Second Season of Canadian Idol which is probably the standard of all Idol shows. The group medleys (*especially* Canadian Railroad Trilogy performed by the top 6) are some of the best.
Just wanted to also request highligting the performance of “In Your Eyes” by Kalan, Jacob, and Theresa Sokyrka. Seriously one of the most heartfelt performaces ever on an Idol show. Fantastic.
Kalan and Theresa doing “True Colours” on the last show was great too. Jacob Hoggard was priceless…lol I couldn’t take my eyes off his performances on CI. A great entertainer.
Yes LisaLee… “True Colors” was great as well. Completely heartbreaking. Even though Theresa was losing her voice, it still came across beautifully.
