Jordin Sparks Cancels Concert Due to Illness

Awww, I hate to hear stuff like this even though it’s pretty common. American Idol winner, Jordin Sparks, has had to cancel a concert at the Bryce Jordan Center due to illness. The concert was scheduled for tomorrow.

Jordin’s doctor “has said she should not perform due to an acute vocal cord hemorrhage condition, which presents the risk of permanent vocal cord damage.”

Get better, Jordin!!!

She is a good talent and I hope she takes care of her voice. This is really too soon in her career to start having vocal cord problems.

Hopefully she has a vocal instructor advising her.

We went down to Hampton for the concert this evening and they were announcing it to everyone standing outside. But they just said she was sick. So thanks for the update. Get well soon Jordin! Don’t worry. Just get well. Alicia and everyone will keep the ball rolling.

Maybe this is what we were hearing on some of those high notes when she performed on AI last week.

Oh, that sucks. Poor Jordin and all the fans who were hoping to see her. I hope she gets better soon.

Is it pretty common? It sounds pretty serious. I have heard of nodes more than hemorrhages, but I really don’t follow enough in music to know how common this is.

Hope she gets better quick and her parents keep her from working too hard.

Jean - vocal bruises, nodes, hemorrhages as a cause of cancellation is pretty common from what I have seen in the business. It sounds horrible and it can be but when you are singing this much, it happens.

I actually had a vocal cord hemorrhage issue from screaming at a hockey game earlier this year. It took a couple weeks to recover.

I don’t think Jordin had a hemorrhage of her vocal cord. Her grandmother wrote a nice comment on my post about going to the Hampton concert and said that “her vocal cord was in danger of bursting”. So this was a measure taken to prevent something like that from happening.
That’s a little good news anyway.

The rest of April has been cancelled for her. From what I understand its serious and she needs to keep her voice “downtimes”. When it is “downtime” she hasn’t been “down” LOL
In any case I hope she feels better soon :)
