When you get off idol, no matter who you are , you have just finished months of top grade exposure and great ego boosting fan adoration, so it is a rocket take off for all. If you do not catch on right a way, in a sense you are in a hole, how far down the feeding chain do you sink?

There are people from star search who took years to make it, I think if you don't make it after idol, it does not mean you are not talented, just that you need to do the ususal "pay the dues" stuff and start back at a lower level.

Look at Jennifer Husdon, people mocked her for going back to singing opn a cruise ship, but for some people it is the end, for her, it was not. The Idol name got her the audition for Dream girls and now she is holding an Oscar.

The future is hard to predict, I would wait many more years before writing any person from that show off. They had a taste of the best and that has given then the drive to continue. Only a few have quit trying. Rickey Smith went back to finish college and is out trying again now, John Stevens stopped to finish college and is still in there. Both studying music.

Jean - it's true. It's too bad, though, that this isn't really a "start" for them but is actually several long years after their appearances on American Idol.

Still, as you say, a job is a job is a job, right?

It is a job, there is no shame in work. Not everyone can start as a headliner
