Kellie Pickler Performs at "Grand Rally"

May 8, 2008 by Jeanne

American Idol beauty, Kellie Pickler, performed at the “Grand Rally” which pays tribute to grandparents and other relatives who act as caregivers to the children in their lives.  Kellie was raised by her grandparents and I think it’s sweet that she got involved in this event.

What do you think of these types of rallies?  On the one hand, I can see the importance of recognizing these people for taking on responsibilities that aren’t theirs but on the other hand, I think it’s risky because these aren’t always great situations (kids being raised by grandparents or other relatives).  In Kellie’s case, it turned out well.  I spent a lot of time with my grandmother growing up and it was a positive thing but I’ve also seen it go wrong.

Anyway, since I’m already talking about Kellie, I thought I should mention that she’s been added to the list of performers at the 43rd Annual Academy of Country Music Awards!  I can’t wait to see what she does!

I thought Kellie was wonderful, and her performance was excellent. I truly enjoyed the song, “Angel”, that she dedicated to her grandmother. It was very beautiful. I wish I could have spoken with her afterwards, but I was so busy taking pictures for my grandparents group. Thanks Kellie. Looking forward to hearing you sing once again, and maybe I could get to talk with you. Take Care, God Bless, Miss Toni Tyler of Portsmouth, Va.
