Kellie Pickler’s Advice to American Idol Hopefuls
Kellie Pickler had some advice for the new American Idol hopefuls who have made it through to the Top 24. She told People: “Going through that whole process and literally overnight you’re on 30-40 million television sets ever week — it’s not necessarily you that changes but it’s the people around you that change.”
Specifically, her message was: “stay away from mean people! Of course that’s with any profession” and “surround yourself with people that support you and pray for you.”
I think that is good, sound advice actually. Even within the competition, it is important (I would think) to avoid those who seem like negative influences. Kellie said that she lost most of the friends she had before being on the show and that’s really too bad. Fortunately, she’s been able to develop a friendship with fellow Idol alum, Katharine McPhee (she was even a bridesmaid at Kat’s wedding!).
Of the friendship, Kellie said: “Kat and I were roommates (on Idol) and built a bond that I was not able to build with anyone else on the show,” says Pickler. “She instantly became like a big sister to me and Nick became like a big brother. I’m so blessed to have them in my life.”

It is so great that Kat and Kellie have built the friendship they have. Each have gone through some very difficult times and now that they are becoming so successful they can lend a hand, ear and heart to each other along the way. Lellie looked beautiful and very happy at Kat’s wedding amnd Katharine was simply stunning.
