Kelly Clarkson Fires Her Management Team!

Kelly Clarkson is just cleaning house! Not only has her public feud with Clive Davis led to strife with her record label but with two weeks before her new album, “My December” drops, Kelly has fired her management team.

Entertainment Weekly is reporting that a SonyBMG source confirms the split between Clarkson and The Firm’s Jeff Kwatinetz. Naturally, most are assuming that the clash was a direct result of the squabbles over the creative process around her new album.

”He exacerbated a thermonuclear situation,” says one source close to the situation. ”Jeff did everything he could to control Kelly and her career suffered. He should have steered her in the right direction.”

The Firm issued an official statement on June 12 saying, ”Kelly Clarkson is an enormously talented artist. We are pleased to have served as her managers during her well-deserved rise to stardom and are proud of the role we played in backing her creative choices. We believed in Kelly from the day we met her and believe in her now. We have only the best wishes and hopes for her in the future.”

Aside from the slightly discouraging success of her new single, “Never Again,” sources are saying the album has other problems. ”It’s been a poor setup,” claims the source. ”Tour markets were misread and all the fighting with the label has taken attention away from the one thing that matters: her music.”

It’s also possible that Clive Davis may pull the plug on the album all together or edit the track list. ”It’s not too late,” says the source. ”The label was supportive of Kelly in terms of putting the song out, but this album can’t flop. She needs to get the right advice and counsel.”

i won’t believe those negative pre-launch speculations about my december until i get a copy and judge it myself… too bad for the mangement, though…

Yeah I think that is true with any album really. People have to hear it for themselves. I bet a lot of people will like Kelly’s album as is. It would be aweful if Clive does take out some tracks. Poor Kelly, but at least she is trying to do things the way she wants to. I’m glad though that she has the guts to say no!

Erika – I’m hoping things turn around. It would suck so bad to have all this hype about Kelly trying to prove herself and then flop.

A’kyra – I wish Clive would just step back and let this be. Even if the tracks aren’t as great as some of her other stuff, it will all just be tainted by this whole drama. People might be expecting a bad album which could make a good album flop. So sad.

Mad Dog Kellyshould tell them to go to hell. What kind of manager would not back up their artist, I am glad she got rid of them, they were all in it together.

  5. Mojo J says:

Clive should try and use his “genius” to get markets and promotion of the less successful clients his label has signed or put “under his wing”. Kelly has a fan base and they aren’t going away because Clives throws an ego tantrum.

  6. Johnny the Kid says:

It would be wise for Kelly to take Clive’s advice seriously. His success has not been a fluke. It has stood the test of time.

I love Kelly, really, I do, but she is the one with the ego problem here. If this album does well, it will be significanlty easier for her to assert creative control over her music.

To (mis)quote Kelly, she’s expecting “too much, too soon”.

I wish her the best of luck and success on the record. Only time will tell!!!!!!

With the concert cancellation, I am starting to worry guys. Any thoughts?
